[Resolved] (Beta) (Linux) Failing on launch
EDIT: This has been solved. I forgot to set the option to enable the beta, which you do by changing your participation in the game's prorperties settings. PUBLIC HUMILIATION COMPLETE.

Nuts! It isn't even crashing, either, it's entirely failing ot get off the ground. It outputs this in BASH, though:

Game update: AppID 620 "Portal 2 (Beta)", ProcID 31099, IP 0.0.0.0:0
ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/REDACTED/Steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
CGameStreamThread: Added instance ID 31099 for appid 620
CGameStreamThread: Set render instance ID 31099 for appid 620
/bin/sh: /home/REDACTED/Steam/SteamApps/common/Portal 2/portal2.sh: /bin/bash^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
CGameStreamThread: Added instance ID 31100 for appid 620
Game removed: AppID 620 "Portal 2 (Beta)", ProcID 31099
Starting SteamVR runtime update on exit from app 620
Unable to apply SteamVR update because source path is empty

Then it throws a pile of Libdbusmenu-GLIB-warnings about childs and parents -- you know, the usual thing that Source games do on exit all the time that is generally safe to ignore because they come after failures and successes alike.

I'm still running Fedora 17, there's a NVIDIA Geforce whatever in it.

Is this just me, or is this the case for every Linux user? Might just not be ready yet.

If this message is printed, it means you did not opt into the beta ("Portal 2 (Beta) [Beta]", rather than just "Portal 2 (Beta)"), which you currently need to for the game to work at all.

...Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that bit of Steam craziness. Thanks for the deserved and apparently necessary clue-by-four.
