Linux - Intel HD 4400
Under linux Mint 16, intel driver version 1.0.4 the brightness is very low. I can barely see anything. Changing the brightness slider doesn't do anything.

Ok I just tried L4D2 on the same config and I'm also getting the same result, but after all it looks more like a black textures probelm rather than a brightness issue. This is more looking like a driver issue ... I will try to change drivers then

Ok so, I found a solution: I installed driconf and under Image quality tab I enabled "enable S3TC texture compression even if software support is not available". I don't know if this is the proper way to go, so if anyone have experience with HD 4400 on linux, please let me know :-) Also I'm runninf Haswell-ULT:

$ lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT DRAM Controller (rev 0b)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b)

So maybe it's an issue with ULT units only ???

Answering to myself but maybe it will help someone else:
sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0
[ "$(uname -m)" = "x86_64" ] && sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386
This worked for me, I don't need to use the driconf solution now.
