Is there a way to disable portal placement auto-correct?
Picture 1
My crosshair is where I aimed and shot my portal but as you can see the portal auto-corrected to where it would solve the puzzle.

Picture 2 - When I shot the same portal again where I originally want it then it will create it where I aimed.

Is there a console command to disable this like there is for funneling?

This is way too noob friendly for me and lessening the amount of fun I have playing this game. If the game is going to play for me then what is the point of spending any time on this?

There's three ways this would autocorrects you, and they aren't toggleable. Portals "bump" over in order to fit on a surface. Lasers will bend slightly to allow them to hit catchers if they are slightly off. Portals will also snap to locations defined in a map, or at the end of lasers and other test elements.

Some of Valve's levels are pretty easy, but they get harder later on. There are some very difficult community maps around if you want even more difficult ones.

Sigh. Guess I'll uninstall then. Every time I shoot a portal and it appears 10 feet from where I aimed it I just can't help but feel like the game devs cater to zero-aim zero-brains noobs without a shred of reflexes and forgot about the good gamers. Most of the time it auto-corrects I'm not even trying to solve a puzzle I'm just shooting portals around randomly while I look/mess around. I don't need any noob help solving anything or placing my portals where they need to be.

You could use the command to place portals everywhere (but then it dont make fun to solve puzzels).
