The game worked fine until I tried playing it this morning. It was show the Valve logo and the loading screen, but after that, it crashes. Is anyone else having this problem?

if you purchased the game off steam then you will need to verify the portal files in Steam and make sure they are all there....

Right-click on Portal 2, go in Properties, then Local Files tab and click on Verify Game Cache.
It may take a while.

Did you try Verify Integrity of Game Cache first? Was there a problem with verifying? That compares the local game files on your computer with the curent version files on the Steam servers and downloads only the ones that are missing or incorrect. Usually verifying works the same as uninstalling then reinstalling, except it saves a lot of bandwidth.
