Requierments?
My son really reall really wants Portal 2 but I am worried he might have performance problems. His computer has 4Gigs of memory, a GTX650 video card but only a 2.8Ghz Pentium D CPU. How do you think it will play on his computer? Worth it? Can we turn graphics down?

Your CPU is a bit under requirements, but i think the game will run, and you don't even have to crank down the graphics to much. Here is a great site where you can check out the sys. req. for various games. http://www.game-debate.com/ Click on can i run tab, or just enter the search box, and you'll get there. :) Hope it helps.

You can easially play portal 2 on pentium D. I personally have played portal 2 on my 2nd pc which has a Pentium D 820 overclocked to 3.9Ghz and a gts 8800 and plays at around 60fps on high 1080P.

Actually, let me clarify: You can "easially" play portal 2 on pentium D if it is at least "overclocked" to 3.7 ghz.

So either overclock, or get a cheap cpu like core 2 duo or core 2 quad.

Your welcome, also keep that gtx 650 for a future computer build if you want. It's a pretty solid card, can play bf4 on medium at 720p.

since the Pentium D is an LGA 775 if i remember correctly you can put a Core2Duo inside it. They are ridiculously cheap nowadays around 7-9 USD for a 6k series C2D. And believe me, it's worth the upgrade.

I run this game on a 1Ghz processor and it goes mostly ok, so....

Correct, a relative of mine switched out his pentium D to a core 2 quad q6600 and wow that made his computer brand new, speed wise.
