Constant Crashing?

I've been able to play portal 2 before, many a time, but all of a sudden the game starts to crash before i even get to any screen. sometimes the valve guy would show, but immediately after that crash.

I've reinstalled game files, validated integrity, restarted steam, all that. I'm still getting this weird issue. Any possible solutions?

Same here, crashes and freezes screen within seconds of starting the game.

I think I have the same problem, but when my game crashes it sometimes say that portal 2 is synchronicing. When I disabled synchronicing the game just couldn´t start, wish I had an answer though.

Yep. Just got sick and tired of Quantum COnumdrum and throught I would play Portal 2 again and sadly, it will not get past the Valve video.

Same thing here, crashes back to desktop immediately on launch. What have they done to it and how do we fix it?

Yeah validating the integrity solved it for me.

I found the solution. Evidently steam no longer likes Xfire hooking onto games. Disabling Xfire ingame or shutting it off mitigates the issue
