Cheap contrller remapping

I've got a cheap no big brand name (so no xbox or ps) controller...which isn't always recognised by everygame. Here it is partially recognised, it's just that it gets some buttons/axes a bit wrong. I tried changing it in the controller menu changing them, but it didn't help. Is there another way to remap the controls? Like maybe a sort of emulator that I use for some games?
