I respect your opinion and all evidence you have with it, but there is plenty of room for fault here. Chell is known for being adopted (confirmed by GLaDOS on more than one occasion), as well as being silent. On half of your arguement, I can agree with. There is evidence from the developers and graphic designers themselves that they created Chell to resemble Caroline a bit more, as well as a similarity of tenacity (hereditary characteristic, taken from Cave Johnson) between them both. It is almost proven without a doubt that Caroline and Cave were her parents.
The muteness I'm afraid I can't agree with you on. Throat cancer not only renders you speechless, but destroys your trachea from inside out. Those diagnosed would die unless equipped with proper eating and breathing equipment, and as we see in the game Chell sports only the Portal Gun. I understand that you said 'maybe' but that theory of cancer is very far-fetched and close to impossible. My theory is that she derived her muteness from a psychological problem, possibly concerning trust issues. Many people are driven mute from a gradual experience, such as lack of interaction (with her parents as they were, she might have been shoved into a corner and told not to speak unless spoken to) or abuse triggered by speech. With this, she became silent, even to the user playing through her eyes.
One more thing. Have you seen the water in those test chambers? Clouded with neurotoxin. And don't say it's pure neurotoxin, stuff that strong would kill anyone within smelling distance (which, since she never aged during the long sleep and stayed fit and healthy, is quite a distance). I'm going to make this clear to you. We are not blind. We merely believe in different theories than you. Being entitled to an opinion doesnot mean that you qualify for insults. In that post, your words were just as poison (and just as tainted) as the deadly liquid that sits in those pools.
Respect your fellow test subjects. Attitude isn't a part of the testing initiative.
Oh... your good fancy mr. Knowalot aren't ya. The water maybe be clear, but light still bends, deforming the image underwater.
Potato project:
Energy of the Future!
PROBLEM
My dad said somebody at the cafeteria ordered too many potatoes so everybody has to do a science project on potatoes now for Take Your Daughter to Work Day and lunch will be french fries. Mr. Johnson said we could use as many potatoes as we liked for our projects but I’m only going to use one. I asked my dad if I could do a different project because I already did a potato battery project in class last year and he said no, Mr. Johnson would get mad.
....
She refer to "dad" and "Mr. Johnson" as different people, meaning she didn't get the ingredient from Cave.
And do we take for granted about her model? Cause this is what is said about her:
"she appears to be of Latin or multiracial descent, and Valve concept artist Matt Charlesworth described her as having "a hint of Japanese ethnicity.""
This ether could say that she is adopted from outside Aperture facility or it can say nothing.
I do not deny the theory that Cave could be the father, but I take that with a pinch of salt... actaully there isn't so many clues to direct to whom the father could be. So I am just sticking with "A Aperture employee".
As for mother... well thats a different story.
