Playing over Internet, simultaneous multiplayer mode and battles in it
Hi. I have 3 questions:
1) Can AoW2:SM on Steam be played over Internet and is it easy to set up a game of 2-3 people all owning the game on Steam?
2) When in multiplayer game over Internet: can the simultaneous gameplay mode be used?
3) If playing game over Internet with 2-3 people in simultaneous mode - is manual combat possible or is it not possible and there is only auto-combat available?

Thank you guys in advance for any answers!

1. Yes. Game uses p2p simple connection. You or your friends just need to know IP-address of host PC.
2. Yes.
3. Manual combats are possible.

i would recommend checking out the gog.com forums on this game. small but active and helpful multiplayer community there.

there is a great email wrapper for the game, and it plays perfectly like that. this is an amazing game, that feels to me like a combination of civilization and axis and allies.

with a little bit of diplomacy thrown in in multiplayer. people will lie to you.

Does any one know any way i can play with my friend, he has the steam version but i have an old retail version. His patch number is 1.30.0.2616 but mine is 1.30.0.2614. No matter what we do we cant connect to each other which makes sense because we have different patchs but I cant find any patch that gets me from 2614 to 2616. I really dont want to buy the game on steam just to get to play with my friend. We tried getting the unofficial 1.4 patch but that doesnt change the games patch number it just adds 1.4 in front of the patch you already have.
