Earth Mastery Help
So I started playing this game a long time ago and got stuck on the Earth: Master Phase level. I've tried holding the starting city underground, I've tried taking all my forces and taking the tunnel south to then up to the surface to another city, and yet it seems no matter what I do, I'm outnumbered and can't win. I've tried searching for help with this level before to no avail. I only just realized this game's available on Steam, so I figured I'd ask for help here. Does anyone know what needs to be done to complete this level so I can finally complete the campaign of this game?

without using cheats?
Earth mastery phase is the one with the spider wizard queen...
If memory serves me correctly.
I found the best way is to be static.
Use your heroes to gather anything your enemy isnt defending.(or you can take without losses)
Ignore that what you cant take without losses.
while at the same time build 8 range units in the capital.(or if you have powerfull summons get one of those)
Make sure you have a wall befor you start using your heroes's to raid anything you can get your hands on(dont worry about losing it just reclaim it when it is undefended)
After you got enough defendses against early attacks.
Build building that increas production>the buildings that increas mana(aka temples) get spirit of war shrine then build all the war structeurs. after you get access to tanks build 8 of those and steamroll your towards her capital city. spirit of war starts them as veterans.
What is important is that you dont spread yourself to thin.
The ai might be able to outnumber you. but i cant outsmart you.
Also reload auto save to get prefeerable outcome's.
very important is that your heroes are raiders. dont send slow units with them.
Also other cities are only there for money. dont build into them.

A detailed walkthrough is givenin the 225-page Brdy Guide that I got years ago. Here is the start of the Earth Mastery.

"Fromm your HQ in rockdale, send a hero-led party heading Est through the short passage, then South, grbbing stuff along the way. (Keep Merlin in the Wizard tower). Look for the Goblin town to conquer just East of an Earth node guarded by an Earth Elemental; it's a valuable conquest as it already has a Master's Guild, which shortens the time required to develop level 4 unit production. Keep moving South down the narrow tunnels marked by the signs "Passage out of the underground". you can explore some of the side tunnels but don't get too far from the passage leading South. Keep summoning dire Boars whenever possible."

The guide says that you must pursue multiple objectives at the same time...

Good luck
FINALLY beat this one, thanks guys :)
Congrats. That is a tough one, wait until Death 1 mwahahaha...j/k.

A great defense for cities I have learned over time for any world is to get 8 Ballista or 7 and merlin asap. Almost nothing can stop it (against AI) yes even against armies with spiders, spider queens, teleporting units, and dragons (tho it is a bit tougher with several reloads). Try and learn Cosmic Spray quickly as well. That way when they conglom near the door, you zap them with CS and then the Ballista will take care of the rest. When they enter a town the AI tends to only attack first troop by door thus blocking and leaving an opportunity to shoot the ones still outside. Volcano is exspensive to cast but takes care of Spider Queens very well.

This strategy has worked for me for years. I have destroyed huge armies with heroes included (kill them first they die pretty quick to a couple of good shots) attacking my towns coming from all sides with just 8 Ballista and magic esp Area Of Effect spells. Sometimes you have to move one off to one side so they cant come at you from a cetain point and split your 8 into 2's by each door. The AI is stupid, once a door is open they almost always have most units use their movement to try and get near the door and then walk away to another door to try and break it down. But since you are destroying their troops so quickly they get caught in a loop of coming to the door then running away again.

The Earth realm has a lot of tunnels, when you see a big troop of guys coming, try and positon so you will only fight one or two stacks instead of whole army.

Oh I know all about bottlenecking them in the gateway, priortizing targets, and the stupidity of the AI. That map's difficult because the enemy AI just overwhelms you with shear numbers ><
