Two things to keep in mind for a TCP/IP game: 1) You need to know the IP address of the person who is hosting the game and 2) Make sure that the firewall is not blocking Age of Wonders. On BOTH machines you should try to connect to a TCP game. In the background you should get two different popups saying that Age of Wonders is trying to access the network and make sure you allow both of those.

Email is pretty straightforward. It is even easier if you download the Age of Wonders Email Wrapper (http://aow.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=1122) because it can automate the email process and has step-by-step instructions for doing so. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I use Hamachi for multiplayer games... works well enough, usually.
