what's the good part of the sniper's award rifle?
Title says it all. as far as I can tell, it's not really a good thing to begin with. it's got a lower zoom-level and a smaller clip. are there any improvements over the default rifle that makes it worth getting?

Hmm...Vanilla BF2?
-Higher damage
-Easier to put damage on a moving target (due to beam duration)
-Beam travels faster than a blaster (I think)
-Because of the instant mid-range zoom, it works well as an assault rifle (close/medium range) as well as a sniper rifle
-The beam goes through units. It's possible to kill several soldiers in one shot. Especially in hallways.
-I think the rate of fire is higher
-Here's a tip. It's hard to get headshots. Try aiming a little above their heads. Really though, with this weapon, you shouldn't even need headshots. It's a handy weapon, but hated by a lot of people who prefer old fashioned sniping.

I haven't used it in ages, correct me if I'm wrong.

No you are right. I was able to win a battle with it 30-1. It is worth it.

meh, I'm one of those that prefers standing in a protected area and sniping. I don't think I need any help with headshots, on Kamino I went 61 kills 2 deaths, and 51 of those were headshots, i'd estimate about 20 were on moving targets, and about 20 more were from behind turrets.

The headshot issue is specific to the award rifle, the stock rifle doesn't have the bug.

I see, thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, for some reason the award rifle doesn't 1hko with headshots. Kinda takes away from the purpose or sniping, but thena gain this game's version of a "headshot" is the top of the dang helmet!

It's just a "scope" bug, I guess whoever the factory where the award rifles are produced forgot to double check the stock scope alignment. =P

The beam rifle packs a punch, but part of the "beam" can miss, the life spawn of the shot is about a half second, if the whole beam hits, the enemy dies. If you want to avoid the 1.5 second shot delay, just jump or roll. Jumping and rolling will avoid long shot delay for any weapon. Thats shot delay, not reload time.
