A game that I loved as a teenager, but just feels dated today. It's an early example of what "console port" used to mean - sloppy controls, low-skill gunplay, linear environments, bland appearance. Remember, this game came out in 2005, a year after Half-life 2, and contemporary with Battlefield 2, and CoD 2.
But what really stuck in my young mind was the teamplay, the ability to order three commandos around and manuever into (and out of) sticky situations. My distant memory had been very positive, on par with Brothers in Arms or Ghost Recon. Sadly, that isn't really the case. The commands you can give are limited by the environment - you can say "use that turret" or "take cover there", but are otherwise unable to command your people. More often than not trying to get them to "hold that area" will result in them standing with no cover, clustered on a single point. The levels are the definition of linear gameplay, with absolutely no deviation from the script available.
I feel bad giving this a negative review from a modern perspective. The game was actually rather daring for it's age, and deserved the praise it received. But I'm not reviewing it in 2005, it's ten years later and the game simply hasn't held up, and i wouldn't recommend it as a way to spend time.
