Game Crash
I have a Windows 7 64 bit operating system and I downloaded this game with steam. Whenever I try to launch the game the littel logo pops up and then it just goes away and it says im no longer in-game without an error message or anything. I uninstalled it and left it for a few days and installed it again. It worked fine for a while. Then the game did the same thing again. I went into the steam folder and set the compatablity mode with Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and I launched the game from the folder itself. A little menu popped up with start game, view read me, manuals, analyze your computer, and uninstall. All of them except uninstall said I needed to put in a disk. Why would I need a disk on the steam version? I would be grateful for any advice to fix this problem.

(UPDATE) After a while I got the famous "Failed to find steam" error. No idea whats going on I reinstalled and everything but now im stuck on "Failed to find steam"

I found this on a forum. Works 100%.
StartupFullscreen=True is located just over half way done the file.
The only thing is, to play on full screen you cannot maximise the window, you have to drag the edges.
Read on for the instructions. ENJOY!!!!

"Done some research tonight and I found the solution.

Nvidia already solved the bumpmapping problem some time ago.

The problem now, is about resolution and bink (or another video codec).

My solution ?

You go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\star wars republic commando\GameData\System

find system.ini

In this file search for : StartupFullscreen=True
And make it look like StartupFullscreen=False

Its related to [WinDrv.WindowsClient]

Like that you're going to start windowed. Hit the maximize button on the upper right hand corner and enjoy.

I think it's all about the two video of presentation for nvidia and lucasarts...."

now I have that stupid "failed to find steam" error, I reinstalled, messed around with the system files and a bunch of other things but now its stuck on that error, what started it was setting the game to a different service pack and running it as admin.

have you tried this:

To fix the "failed to find Steam" issue easier:
Exit Steam
Browse to Program Files/Steam in Windows Explorer
Delete ClientRegistry.blob
Reopen Steam
StasisCan (KingOfDerps) Oct 28, 2013 @ 9:01pm
I have also tried that but all steam does is recreate the file
PRM Commando Oct 28, 2013 @ 9:05pm
did you completely close it in the task bar before deleting the registry? I've read it was only a temp fix but there seems to be mixed results
StasisCan (KingOfDerps) Oct 28, 2013 @ 9:08pm
I right click my steam in the task bar and click exit steam, if that means completely closed. and also a tiny issue that maybe you could also help me with, uh my task manager doesnt have the little menu bar on top to switch between processes, applications, etc. so now im suck on processes with no way to change it, any ideas?

Are you using windows 8 or is it still the specs that you have in your first post? but yes right clicking steam on the task bar and pressing exit fully closes it
StasisCan (KingOfDerps) Oct 28, 2013 @ 9:16pm
I'm still using the specs posted above, and yeah then the .blob fix doesnt work for me then.

Im not much good with operating Systems however When I googled it one forum member says to double click the outside border of the taskmanager to get the tabs back
