Workshop for RC?
Guys it would be so cool if they had a steam workshop of RC. Comment on my post in the workshop discussion. Maybe if enough people commet they will do it.

I don't see how a workshop would work for this game. It's not very well known (sadly) and there wouldn't be much a variety of things to create.
I love it when a workshop is available for a game that I have, but a workshop for this game is kind of unnescesary.

Really :( They could add weapons and new skins new multiplayer maps. If their was a workshop all kinds of people would be looking it up and buying it. Don't rain on RC. Plus their are a lot of mods and stuff they could just add and finish.

I'm not "raining" on RC, I love this game.
In the star wars universe there have been tons of weapons, vehicles, and character designs already made, it would be hard to make something new.
Since there are mods, People would just go downlaod them off those certain websites instead. Now you could argue that a workshop would point out some good mods, but some people would have gotten them already, who knows.
I'm not trying to be rude and I wish this game would have a workshop, but I don't think it's a wise choice.

Not all of the other mods are finished they could finish them or start new ones. I do not see a problem with adding star wars guns and skins that already exist? I know a lot of people don't even know what this game is, but it would be nice like you said. I think if people saw it on the workshop list they would buy it. it is only $10.

I used to be a coder in the game. Made some of the Admin Patches, yes their are things you could create, like maps with unrealed engine (Look in games system files) but weapons is to complicated and yes i have made some but if someone has 5 weapons added everyone else will need those 5 not any more or no diffrent ones which will cause a conflict. Sadly this game died a while ago but i still have memories of all those times i spent hours playing this game, So i have to say no on the workshop

It's great that you're still are thinking of this game! It's one of the best.

I don't want to be a downer, but isn't Workshop integration strictly a developer or publisher decision? If I'm wrong someone can correct me, but I thought the way it worked was that the dev or publisher of the game would express interest in Workshop integration for their game and Steam would create a Workshop hub for the game.

Since the dev/publisher was LucasArts and they are no more, outside of being a licensing name for Disney...the only way I could see any future update to this game is if some developer bought the rights to Republic Commando to make a sequel and, in a marketing strategy for said sequel, decided to publicly release both modding tools and a Workshop page for Republic Commando. Which would be awesome! I'd love to see a sequel to this game, but I think the chances of seeing one after all this time is pretty low.
