Online functionality discontinued?
But they still think charging $10 for this title is acceptable? Well, I certainly won't be buying. Might check out the single player sometime, though. Big middle finger to the company responsible for *that* decision.

I don't think they deserve a dime for trying to sell half a game for $10 after it's a decade old. Sales from steam would more than cover the cost of keeping their servers functioning. It's greed, pure and simple, and they deserve nothing.
You can still play on gameranger.

Gameranger is for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ randos. No one worth playing with will ever be on gayranger, the only people who still play are some of the US players who have scrims, I know some RC players still play, some ReiGn players and like 1 or 2 TX players maybe. But you need to know the clan IPs and they don't give it to random people since the skill difference would make it not fun for anyone. Repcom is dead thanks to gamespy. Most of us have moved on.

Edit: Typo

Lol Plasma <3.

And you wanted to know if it was worth it to get the game, it's not. Just torrent it or something with none of us playing anymore there is really no point to waste 10$ on a single player you will play once. So yeah don't blame the clans for not playing, blame gamespy for there ♥♥♥♥. But hey if you really want go play on gayranger and make my point.

Seriously, grow up.

I found a server that still works, no one plays on it but it would be amazing if there would be some people who got on at once. IP: 212.224.120.205 Port: 7777

Gamespy no longer exists, that's all there is to it. Many old games were affected by the shutdown. Fortunately, I suppose, the developers of this title made sure the online functionalty wouild never compoletely be dependent on another service by including both direct IP connections as well as LAN mode, which can be used in virtual LAN over the internet as well.

The dev went out of business many years ago. Disney now owns licensing rights for Star Wars video games. As for the servers, as someone posted above they were powered by Gamespy, which went out of business many years ago as well.

The point is, if multiplayer functionality isn't present(for all intents and purposes, at least), they should probably not be selling the game. If they choose to sell it, they probably shouldn't specify that it includes multiplayer, as it basically does not. And if they're going to do all of that, they should probably be charging half of that much, at the absolute most.

Except for the fact it says on the page "As of may 31st, online functionality has been discontinued"

This is either some serious entitlement for a game this old, or troll be trollin.

But if you're really that ignorant;

1. Game is 10 years old ffs. As well it used gamespy, which should tell you that multiplayer servers no longer work.
2. Multiplayer functionality is present. Since, apparently, you don't have the game you wouldn't know this.
3. The multiplayer servers are addressed in the store page, above the "About this game" section. How you missed it, who knows.

Lastly, get the game on sale for $4 if you feel so entitled to paying less for a game that no longer has multiplayer servers - and clearly stats the fact on the store page. But like I said, the multiplayer functionality is still there.

Why the ♥♥♥♥ do I bother reading threads like this.

Additionally, I don't know if I would put this in the "tacked on multiplayer" as I've never tried it, but this has been a single player game foremost to most people since it came out.
