Call me stupid, or is this game?
I am not one to complain about a game (first steam post), but I am frustrated with this game. Before my rant, I have Googled, searched and have come up blank. I even looked for a manual, to no avail.

First off, how the hell do you edit your avatar, in game? Call this minor and lame, but I can not for the life of me figure this one out. This is minor, but you would think this would be a simple option in the profile tab, in game, but it's not.

Next, why can't I asign my units to a Hotkey? Perhaps this is a feature, but I could not figure or find this one out. I have tried Alt+, Ctrl+, Shift+, number keys, F-Keys. Is this game so alien, that it doesn't follow the standard RTS game configurations? Also, why isn't this feature listed in the Key bindings?

Another issue I have, why can I not change the facing of my units? It's really annoying to have your section (of four units) position it's self perpendicular to the terrain your trying to hide in, like trees or a hill crest.

I think, lastly... How the hell do you save a replay? This is really dumb. This feature should jump out at you. Perhaps when the match is over, a button should offer the oppertunity to to save and/or watch your last match. Amazingly there is a "replay" button, but nothing comes up. So, why have Load and Replay buttons, if they are not used?

I enjoy the graphics and the Stratigic element of this RTS, but these simple features have ruined my enjoyment and feel like I have been jipped by another incomplete or poorly implemented game.

The avatar is your Steam avatar. Change it in Steam and it'll change ingame.

You can assign units to hotkeys, Ctrl+number key binds and number key selects. I had to do a double take there because I thought that was sort of standard. All hotkeys are listed on manual page 2. You can access the manual from your library by right-clicking the game and selecting "View player manual".

99% of the time you don't need to change the facing of your units. It'll face the direction it was last moving at, so queue a move order almost to final destination and while holding shift, give a small move towards the direction you want to face. It's simpler to just pair units rather than use platoons of four, though. I can't remember the last time I needed to manually change the unit facing.

You can't save replays in single player. For multiplayer it should work pretty self-explanatorily. If Replay shows nothing, that just means you don't have any replays saved.

Thank you for the reply. The Manual answered most of my questions, and then some.

Damned, if I tried the Ctrl+, for unit assignment, and it did not work. Why aren't these hotkeys listed in the options, with the others, and only in the Manual?

Odd you can't save a single player replay. Don't understand the logic there.

And I have a Steam Avatar, as you can see. It does not appear in game. Whatever.

You can't save replays with the participation of the AI for following reason: To save space the replays does not record the game itsself, but your orders and the game will be re-played by the AI when watching the replay. And apparently the AI moves can't be replayed by the AI. (Maybe some1 can explain this better than I can ... ?)

Your avatar not appearing in Wargame is weird. Have you tried another avater (different size, etc.) ?

I've had the avatar problem myself...before you say "brah, you don't have a steam pic", I did at the time.

I have had the units problem before, it's a little annoying at times when you're hiding men in a hedgerow. But it's a very minor thing, and I can usually correct it in a few seconds.

As a new player to this game, I have to say that the UI is not friendly for beginners.

I've wondered why a company like Eugen that can create such a great game can do such a questionable job of explaining how to use the AI. There are ways to move units and change status that I would never have known about if I hadn't read certain posts or seen certain vids. Does anyone think they (Eugen) actually planned it that way? If so, why would they do that?

yes the UI is quite horrible, I only found out how to use it through trial and error

Seems like no matter what Eugen does no one will like the UI (people also hated the ALB UI including me)
