Kudos to the Devs, Eugen Systems
To be honest, I didn't like RUSE, their previous game; didn't like it at all. So when I saw this Wargame I wasn't very prone to buy it.

Steam sales came and as a strategy lover I had to pick it up. I've been for some time playing Total War and similar games with contempt, as I honestly despise the rushing and key shortcuts, the rock paper scissor mechanics they use.

Luckily, Wargame is almost everything I'd hoped for. Simplicity but grounded on reality which makes it perfect to develop complex strategies and a real-strategy approach to the game. It is refreshing to have to learn more strategy and less "gamey" mechanics.

Congrats, Eugen Systems, for a good work.

Cheers

I've not played a lot of RTS games on the PC recently. Years ago, there was a series I liked (I think it was Act of War, but I'm not completely sure), anyway, I got World in Conflict, thinking it was something I would like. I was wrong. It felt too much like an arcade game, and not a lot like a RTS.

Then I stumbled on W:EE. This has taken all of my gaming time over the last month (since I got it). Now, I feel like I am spoiled, and wouldn't like any other RTS. Everything about this game suits me:

  • The era - end of the cold war, I love that era in military equipment.
  • The Solo game - I know it gets knocked sometimes, but I really have enjoyed solo campaign.
  • The Multiplayer - Except for the occassional spammer, the online games can be epic!
  • The overall "feel" of the game - I love being able to manage from a general level, or zooming in to micro manage my units.

Just a great game. Can't wait for AirLand battle in March.

Do you mean Warhammer Dawn of War? this game plays similar to that in some ways

DoW was great but in some way of the same rock paper scissors style. I don't think there's a precedent in commercial RTSs to W:EE; maybe in simulators but I'm not very fond of them.
