$9.99 is a steal for this game, best RTS I've ever played.

It's not resource based like Starcraft or SupCom FA. This game is more like DOW 1 or 2, you capture points and hold them to gain a generic resource for calling in reinforcements. There are cheap units, expensive ones and plenty of different unit types you have to keep on your toes.

An example of overall combat balance in this game in 2 short paragraphs: Infantry are exposed and slow but with AT missiles can be a danger to more expensive tanks. Add in a troop transport and those infantry are cheaper and just as deadly. But tanks can attack at long distance accurately and do lots of damage while staying alive without cover longer than most units.

Attack helicopters can mop up tanks and infantry, whereas a mobile AA can make that expensive helicopter scrap in no time. Gun-based AA can also be pressed into killing light vehicles and infantry and even medium vehicles with fast high-cal cannons, but eat up ammo quick so they need logistics trucks to keep them going.

This is a title that every serious strategy lovers must have in their library.

But perhaps more appeals to Paradox games fans than to Starcraft-ololo-rush-fans

@T-Bone Biggins I'm used to Sins of a Solar Empire, and Supreme Commander. Is this a game I would want to buy, or will I be dissapointed?

@Supreme Gamer Yes if you played Sins of a Solar Empire and Supreme Commander this is game you will love. I played both but personally I think this is way better then both SOSE and SC with gameplay strategy and graphics(the autosetting is quite off)And come on a game $9.99 no tax when its original pric is almost $40 thats a steal plus steam has the best deal the actual site discount is priced at $15

If you want to get a feeling about what it might be like to try and run a modern company to battalion level combat operation, then you'd probably like it. It's tough to learn so if you want a good challenge, you'll probably like it.

A good game with lots to recommend it, but by no means perfect. With some patching it might become truly great.
One of the most infuriating things is the way helicopters constantly land when you move them- not very good when it's a recce and you're counting on it to see enemy coming.

Unless you specify "attack", units ordered to move from one place to another will try to drive right past enemy units without any attempt to seek cover.

Units that rout will often run into the open, stop, and sit there under fire.

It's difficult to pick out individual units when a few are close together. This is particularly frustrating under fire. Things happen extremely fast and you can't waste time fiddling.

You right-click to target enemy units and to issue move commands. If you're too slow on clicking a moving enemy unit, you click the ground instead and your guy thinks you want him to move there. This sometimes leads to them charging out of cover and into the open.

I think the pace is just too fast. You often have a very large map with lots of units, and it's difficult to keep track of everything. When there's battles going on in several distant areas, you have to multitask like a madman.

Unless you're very familiar with PACT and NATO equipment, it's hard to know the capabilities of all the units. For example, some are very good against your helicopters even though their primary function isn't AAA. You can turn on "unit info" and look at the armament of the units, but when there's five things happening at once it's not very practical.

Definatly worth the price if you enjoy a highly realistic simulation of combat, but if you wish to use tactics that came out of starcraft, you my friend are one screwed son of a ♥♥♥♥♥.
