Effective use of ground recon and infantry?

I've man up and decided to enter the wonderful online world of wargame. My first online matches were against inexperienced friends so I decided to expand my tactical knowledge of this game.

So far i've mainly used heli recce's but i'm trying to get used to effectively using ground recon. For infantry, the most I used are vdvs and delta force units dropped behind enemy lines to stop arty spam and taking out command vehicles.

So any tips on how to use ground recon and infantry effectively? I mean I know they should always be kept in cover but positioning is my biggest problem.

With ground recon and anti-tank weapons (Like the ATGMs), the woods or in buildings is the best place for them - they would be ripped to shreads in the open. And a common mistake that people make with this is putting their units in the center of the woods. For most effective use and longest range of sight, position them at the edge of the woods. Although they will be more easily spotted by enemies, (though not much easier) you will be able to spot them. Also, when using AA missiles, you have to be sure no woods. buildings, or terrain is blocking their line of site. AA missiles are nearly useless when placed in the center of a dense wooded area.

That explain why my AA had been ineffective. Does that include AA infantry as well?

I really like to use recon infantry to sneak around the enemy to try and spot light units, AA and arty if you are really lucky maybe a cv then use arty to kill them. Do not put them in places where the enemy will go but on the sides of the places that they will probably go

Any recommendations on decent recon infantry? Would it better deploying them with a helicopter or should I use their apcs for deployment?

It depends. If you want them to rush the back of your enemy, ambush his supply line and CV, helis are better. But for the center of the map and the defense of your zones, APCs are good. The VAB for example is so fast, very effective.

Special forces are harder to spot then normal recon in so I would recommend For pact 4vpzu and nato fernspäher. When it comes to helicopter vs APC I think you could take them with heli for pact because you both get 10 hp and weapons on the mi-tv (I think it's that one). helicopters are good for getting your recon behind the enemy fast but much more expensive and apc is good for spreading them out across the batelfield.

And inf-helis are very weak against helis rushes
