Wargame AirLand Battle.
On a more serious note, the scale's similar to Ruse or Supreme Commander (FA), the settings similar to WiC ... well, there's not more, it's unique lol

There is a far older game series called Sudden Strike, that is not on steam. It also had supplies, and lines of sight, and recon was also important. However there was no real deployment of points or anything.

Otherwise as mentioned above, World in Conflict is very similar, as is Ruse and Airland Battle (both from Eugene systems, and Airland Battle is the sequel).

I have played Supreme Commander and I loved it, haven't played the other two yet.

Capturing points reminds me of Dawn Of War.

This game is just like a modernized version of World War 3: Black Gold. If anyone remembers that game then you get 50 internet points from me.

Well coming from a different, angle, what I found is that Euro Escalation is unlike ANY game I had EVER played really. Well, okay actually it's similar to a wargame I played on a military history forum I frequent, once. It was an alternate WWI naval warfare game, and the Game Moderator factored in recon, lines of sight, ship fuel levels, how much ammo ships have, even the quality of ammunition used by different countries like there was always a chance that a round wouldn't detonate, and such. He may have even factored in the possibility of general mechanical failures (not due to battle damage) on ships and determined with throws of the dice. And of course there was the battle damage--damage was localized: a good hit to a gun turret would probably render those guns useless. Maybe even explode some ammunition or start fires. A hit to the gunfire control station will have your gunners a bad time. That sort of thing.

Euro Escalation is similar to that. EVERYTHING is taken into consideration. It's happened to me a few times where I'll have some vehicles move over certain rougher terrain, forgetting that one might end up with a screwed up tank track, so it takes some time for that to be repaired. Or a tank of mine might be hit, and it shows that a certain module of the tank is hit or damaged, which affects the effectiveness of that tank. And the tank there, might expend a lot of rounds--you'll need to resupply that.

Also every unit has a counter. Even infantry, while they're not the most ideal for the job, can counter a tank if the tank gets into ATGM or AT rocket launcher range for example (infantry can be good for defense I think, against tanks and armored vehicles if you put them in a forest!).

Overall, don't touch this game if you're not looking for or open to playing a very detailed and in depth strategy game. Like I said, I can't really tell you what other game (video game at least) it is like, because this may be the most in-depth strategy game I have played, when it comes to tactical strategy. Crusader Kings 2 takes the cake for geopolitical strategy I think lol.

Yea I like realism and detail in games, a similar functioning of the above mentioned game mechanics I have experienced in other game was WORLD OF TANKS, you should try it, its not an RTS, but you control a tank in 3rd person view and fight other tanks.
Thanks for taking taking time to reply Sir, your's was the answer I was looking for :)

Detailed tactical gameplay like Sudden Strike
Zooming like Supreme Commander
Unit collection like Gran Turismo ;-)
'Real WWIII' scenarios, but without the storytelling of World in Conflict
And a nice unique art style.
