What do you do with depleted supply trucks?!
I just got the game yesterday and have been trying it out. I of course figured out that you can use supply trucks to resupply your units in the field if there isn't an FOB nearby or you don't want to pull your forces back to one.

However, in the last mission I played, I had a bunch of depleted supply trucks sitting in a corner (I sent them there) because I had no idea what to do with them. In the first mission, I thought maybe they'd regain the yellow bar if I let them sit in a secured area, but no, they didn't.

Am I doing something wrong or do I literally have to throw them in a corner when they're depleted? And given that you have a limited number of supply trucks you can deploy, it is a bit strange. Unless there's a supply crunch up at a higher strategic level, it seems like your tactical logistics should eventually replenish supplies to distribute to your fighting forces.

No, supply trucks can only be re-supplied by an FOB. There is nothing else you can do with them despite scouting, shielding .. and that's basically it. I ony once ran out of supply and that battle lasted 4 hours (I've got a screen as proof :P)
Yes keeping them in the corner is probably best unless you have a FOB, this is an important thing as they cost a lot of points. Only use them for scouting or shielding unless your game is a mode that continues until all enemy units are destroyed or they can climb up the points quite easily.
I just saw somewhere else that you can resupply them at an FOB. I found that out in time for the Peace Talks mission which was VERY important because I could send my Chinooks back and forth. Unfortunately though, the FOB ran out and things got crazy but I won the mission lol.
Hi, just wanted to mention that you should check out equipment stats and have a solid understanding of ammunition type, fire rate, accuracy, and damage. Using cheap units or heli's to scout early game will allow you to chose the optimum equipment for the mission and waste less fuel and ammunition. This is important because you will learn how to complete missions faster and get bonus stars. Specifically, try to select units with high accuracy while moving for attacking missions. An efficient defensive strategy is to use more infantry, especially to protect bases near FOBs so that they can resupply themselves while being hidden within buildings. Infantry are cheap, plus they come with armored personnel carriers that work well for recon/anti infantry. Hope this helps.

You can use them to create supply chains by placing the trucks at the borders of other trucks' supply borders. I use this to keep depleted trucks at the front line while keeping my loaded trucks safely behind my lines.
No disrespect, but you must crush your games if you have time to micromanage empty supply trucks :)

I was a decent player, level 74, and very defensive. If you have a strong line that the enemy can't cross, why not micro them? Plenty of Starcraft players micro at a way faster rate than I ever could, lol, and this game is far slower paced than SC2.

I get what you mean about having depleted trucks near the front so that if they get hit then it's not as much of a loss, but...isn't the idea to keep your frontline forces supplied? Or I guess you probably rotate forces to the front/rear, huh?

It does keep them supplied, supplies can transfer from full trucks into empty trucks, so long as there are combat units that need supplies within the radius of the empty trucks. It's like the full supply trucks transfer the supplies into the empty trucks, and then into the combat units. So in effect, you're simply increasing the range of the full supply trucks by using empty ones in a sort of daisy-chain structure.

Oh yeah that makes sense.
