Wargame: European Escalation

Wargame: European Escalation

I recommend to not touch this absurd DRM mess
Well. At first the game language was all set to Polish. After figuring out how to change it to English, the game expects me to give them my email and do an account on their server. While creating the account the game asks for CD-Key, which is absurd string of numbers and characters. Those were common in 90's and so, but ♥♥♥♥ like that should never ever exist anymore.

Had I knew there is that kind of ♥♥♥♥, I would had never bought the game. Be warned.

There is no DRM, but Steam.
Also, I suggest you make use of "copy CD-key to clipboard" -> "control" + "v". A matter of one second to do that.
Bonus hint: Why did you create an account when you don't want to? You don't need to do that, it's only necessary to play online. Still, you simply can press "esc" isntead of logging in.
It is a warning for people who buy games like beer. If you buy beer, you don't want to type complicated codes, you just pay for the beer and enjoy the beer. The same goes with the games. You don't want to ruin the experience of quicly checking a new game with some stupid codes.

No matter, the game appears to be good and entertaining, so it was worth it to go through all that DRM mess.
I have this game, and I played it. For 27 minutes, but yes, I played it. I thought this was a sequel to RUSE. Sadly, it is not.

How does entering a one time alphanumeric string that you can copy/paste ruin the game or experience? It literally takes one minute to even enter the key by hand. You spend more time waiting for the game to install/run the first time setup than you do entering the CD-key.

The copy/paste did not work, and alt-tab to show the desktop did not work. Shift-tab brought the Steam HUD, and I was able to see part of the CD-key. However, resizing the CD-key window did not work, so I only saw part of the CD-key. Thus, eventually I had to quit the game, take paper and pen, check the CD-key from Steam client without the game running, so that I got a CD-key window I was able to resize in order to see the full CD-key so that I was able to write it down with pen into a paper. After that I had to type it again with keyboard for the account setup.

Was too much when I was expecting to just buy the game and click "play", wait a moment, and play.

Sorry sir, no twist off lids here. Go grab your bottle opener.
Yeah, well, I have actually two bottles of excellent beer in the freezer. One is Imperial Porter (9.2 %) and the other one is Porter (7.2 %).

Will delete this thread soon because this is obsolete. The game is good and very much worth the trouble and price.

but no other options (like copy-paste) to input it. only manual. in game at 2012? seriosly?
I start it onese and no I can't enter again. "access violation" each time.
seriosly - now is 2014 and it still bugged from the begining?
goooood game. better if they back to RUSE

You can copy/paste, it's called pressing Ctrl+V in the input box.

thx, Cap! It was first what attempt to do. doesn't work.
This is absolutely absurd. How does the people behind this game AND the people at STEAM, where I purchased it, expect that everyone in the World can speak and understand polish? Furthermore, how do they think that non-polish people can get OUT of the "game"? PLEASE GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK, AND PLEASE RESPOND TO MY QUESTIONS TO YOUR SUPPORT, STEAM

I suggest you make use of the search function. It's not like I've already posted the solution like 100 times >.>

One of those steps will solve your problem:

1. Enter the Wargame game directory inside [...]Steam\Steamapps\Common\Wargame European Escalation\ and open the file install.dat. Change the number "685234" to "199285" and save the file. If this doesn't work, delete the file install.dat (ensure to make a backup before) and set the language ingame then (maybe need to check 3).
2. Steam library -> right click on WEE -> Properties -> Language. Select one.
3. In the game, search for 'Opcje' and click on it -> then go to 'język' -> change it from 'polski' to 'english' -> click on 'zastosuj'
4. Uninstall the game, choose English in the Steam game language options and then re-install the game.
