You seet he developers managed to sell one story in three parts, selling each episode on a full price. Deponia did the same. Now they (the three episodes) have a fair price.
I would say,if you're not going to play the others, at least read the wikipedia page or something so you get the idea of the storyline.
I'm enjoying it so far, it's a good game, but I do think I'd like it more if I'd played the other 2 first.
They aren't really episodes. They are sequels. Each one is a full game. They've just aged which has caused them go down in price like every other game eventually does.

I did not like part 1 & 2 of the trilogy and I'd recommend only getting part 3, as in-game dialogue and cut-scene supply you with the needed background information(...)'
