This game is the biggest pile of ♥♥♥♥ i have ever played.

This game had SUCH a troubled timeline and sat in development hell for so damn long. The fact that a game that was supposed to release in 1999 even managing to release in 2011 is a miracle. As one can expect, with all the gaps, moving of engines, change of creative visions and everything else, the game is an odd, unfocused mess.

There isn't much of a story to speak of (As opposed to the exciting tale promised by the 2001 E3 trailer), the enemy variety is severely lacking and many of the models and textures look dated even for 2011. On top of this, many of the boss fights are weirdly designed, set pieces can get repetitive and the puzzles are far too many for the genre this game is supposed to be.

There is also the fact that this plays nothing like past Duke Nukem 3D, limiting you to only two weapons and slowing down Duke's movement quite a bit.

You can still play this game (As I did) if you really love the Duke and have fond memories of him. He is definitely a hero from a different era and doesn't fit into the modern world, however, I just wish we could have given him a proper final sendoff. Pick this up on DEEP sale if you want to play Duke's final game, otherwise, do yourself a favour and pick up the Duke pack for Bulletstorm: Fullclip Edition and play as Duke in a game with good mechanics and a tight storyline instead.
