Who's That Flying: Way Too Fast, WTF?
So the game seems to be running at ludicrous speed, I've got very little hope of someone a) knowing a fix and b) checking this forum to post the fix but it's worth a shot I guess. I've tried nothing so far, I guess I'll run it as an admin and all that stuff and see what happens.

same problem here

Same thing happened to me. The game used to run normally before, but now it's so fast it's broken and unplayable.

I hope the devs see this and fix it, but don't have much hope. Doesn't seem like it has much support.

Well guys, coincidentally I had an idea earlier that I thought might work. I just tried it and guess what? It worked!

I don't know how you do it with AMD cards but for Nvidia cards, go to the Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings, click Add and navigate to /Steam/steamapps/common/whos that flying/wtf.exe. Then scroll down to the bottom and turn Vertical Sync on.

Some older games used to tick at their frame rate and I thought that WTF, being an indie game, might be a little old-fashioned in the same way. I imagine my card was giving me a couple of hundred frames per second but I noticed when I was playing that when a lot was going on it would slow down a little, and I don't think WTF has a Vsync setting.

Hope that helps.

I remember trying to force Vsync on back when I bought it (a year or so ago) because there was some screen tearing in the background (the game speed was normal for me back then though), but it had no effect. I guess I'll try it again and see if it helps slow it down any.

Anyway, thanks for the tip BRD.

Just wanted to say that your solution works. Finally had some time to try it out. I have AMD, so had to use ATI tray tools to force Vsync on, because the deafult ATI thing (catalyst?) is crap.

Now that the game is back to normal speed it actually feels a bit sluggish when compared to the crazy supersonic speed. :D

Cool, glad I could help. As for it being a bit sluggish, go buy you one of those fancy new 120Hz monitors, instant 2x speed!

No,no, I meant it in a good way. :D It's easier now :P

Also, I can train on the super speed mode without vsync, and then rock in normal :D

changing those settings (using amd) did nothing for me. ive played the damn game before on the same setup. the game is fun and a great time killer, but not at super duper fast foward lol

Did you try using "ATI tray tools" program? Saving a custom profile with Vsync forced on should work. If not then I dunno.

Still having that issue :/
Already tried the Vsync stuff via ATI Tray Tools but it didn't work.

Just tried it and it still works for me. In the d3d tab i have the force vsnyc option set to On and triple buffering or whatever enabled. Other than that I'm all out of ideas.

Shame that the support for this game is so crap (nonexistent).

Actually that's how the game usually runs, hence its name "who's that flying" because you can't make out what the hell is going on the screen. People just tweak it to run it slower
Dsparil Dec 3, 2013 @ 6:35am
As I said. When I bought it (at PC release) it played at normal speed, so I doubt it's on purpose.

The game felt odd to me, so I checked TB's "WTF is: WTF?!". It's certainly true that there is a gamespeed problem, guess the mechanics are framerate-dependant.

The fix here worked for me too, force V-Sync on. In AMD's Catalyst, you can set a setting for WTF exclusively in the 3D Application Settings, starting with clicking the "+ Add ..." button. "Wait for Vertical Refresh" needs to be Always On.

Thanks for your help. I can now play normally
