in tropico shift tab doesnt work!!

i have tropico 4 steam but i catn use steam communty in the game. shift tab doesnt work

when i click game launcher opens. i click play and goes game but i cant use steam in the game

What computer are you using? Laptops with certain Nvidia cards mess up the steam overlay for some reason. the 420m was one of them. Laptops in general have had issues with this game. After seeing my desktop 6x core compared to my wife's laptop performance (4x core) I could not fathom playing games on laptops anyway. It runs those card games she likes though pretty well.

Same problem here, not just shift-tab, but everything Steam-related. It's especially annoying when i want to make screenshots, which simply doesn't work. Could it be Windows XP related?

@omnix32: I'm using a normal pc by the way, no laptop and no nvidia either.

The Nvidia that has a M is reported to be broken with certain games concerning laptops on steam. This is a Nvidia "m series" "only certain games are effected" issue. Payday the heist is another one that is reported as having a busted Shift + Tab with these laptops.

As far as I know this is a driver issue with that series of Nvidia.
Here is what to try.

1) Make sure your drivers are updated. Nvidia gets these reports and fixes them.

2) run game with integrated graphics mode. The game will suck, but if you can hit the steam overlay, then you know the issue. It's the Nvidia drivers.

3) After updating drivers.............. Make a shortcut from your tropico 4.exe and run it in compatibility mode XP, then try windows 98/Me. This was a fix suggested by Steam for the m series Nvidia cards with steam overlay issues.

Has it ever worked for you? On any game?

Try the same thing, start the game in a different compatibility mode. Driver updates and so on.

Some users said uninstalling steam and deleting the folder then starting fresh worked. A rough solution if you have tons of games. This should not be anything XP related, but DX compatibility related or just steam needs to be reinstalled.

Well i have updated my AMD graphics drivers and tried compatibility modes, but no luck. I've also googled it and many people seem to have this issue, but i haven't seen a solution anywhere. That leaves reinstalling Steam, but with 80 games installed it's not worth it for me.

Screenshots (the feature i was looking for) can be taken with the printscreen button (they're saved in the "my documents/my pictures/tropico 4" folder). I also noticed that the tab button is used for hiding the game UI, so i thought i'd bind Steam overlay to something other than shift-tab, but it still didn't work.

And i forgot to answer your previous question. Yes, shift-tab works normally in all of my Steam games, except Tropico 4 (and it has never worked in Tropico 4).

yea, I killed a program I use. something kept it from functioning and I could not find what the problem was, and that hardly ever happens to me. I gave up and reinstalled windows 7 to get it working again. Sometimes a fresh coat of windows solves a lot of issues.

You might check this thread. There is a way to reinstall steam without loosing everything.

also anathema achievements are working in tropico i didnt have any. dude you have a lot of games that you havent play yet i am so exited. do you have any extra game :D
