If you like quirky city builders, then yes. The game can be comparible to SimCity or Banished as your main goal is to grow and support your island, catering to the needs of certain groups and hoping that everything doesn't go to hell. However unlike the two mentioned games, Tropico offers a few different approaches in how things are managed, such as how you plan to govern your island.

Do you go full on dictator? Maybe play more democraticly or be a full on military state. Keeping people happy will prevent rebels from attacking or your military from turning on you (in all honesty though, keep the military happy, I find them more annoying to deal with than rebels). You also have the kind of island you want to create in the form of tourism, industry, mining or farming.

But yeah, overall it really comes down to whether or not you like city buildings and or simulation games.

Also it's extremely funny. I just had to deal with sudden crime wave, becouse my minister of internal affairs kept stealing candy from children....

I picked it up a couple weeks ago from Humble as well, and I'm really enjoying it. It took me a little bit to figure out how everything works and the best ways to start so you don't sit in debt half the game, but after that it's been a lot of fun and my only real annoyance is that it's hard to deal with traffic if you try to make a big city.

I love the funny bits like MJanek said. And compared ot other city/town builders I find this game a lot more interesting and varied. The campaign is pretty neat too.

Not really sure how to help with the actual registery bit as it worked fine for me (maybe check junk mail?) but in the community guide section there's a way to bypass that issue. If anything I believe you won't be able to gain achievements if you care for such things.

Hi Lscott123.
Could you share some more details on that?
Best would be to get us a small description what is happening and where, like "I started the game via Steam, but it does not start, but I will get an error-message, stating 'XYZ'"
Additionally your system specs will help getting this sorted properly. Most importantly OS+bit, CPU, GPU and RAM.
-cheers
