Broken Sword 1 - Shadow of the Templars: Director's Cut

Broken Sword 1 - Shadow of the Templars: Director's Cut

The original Broken Sword
Is it just me who finds the director's cut to be too buggy and the additional scenes unrewarding compared to the original release. It would be nice to have the original version available on steam, it's one of my all time favourites.

Just you. :)

I didn't find it buggy, but I did prefer the opening to the original version - it was more dramatic.

Speaking of bugs...I made a thread about it, but I am stuck at the museum where I am supposed to open the window...The rod that is used to open the window is gone. The action icons pop up when I mouse over where it was, but George just shrugs when I use them. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

I haven't ran into that one but had many similar graphic glitches with mostly George or other objects disappearing or becoming inactive.

I bought the original back then and lost the cd since but fortunately I received a copy on for backing the kickstarter of the new broken sword \o/
Funny how the old graphics are lower in resolution and still they look more appealing and coherent and I don't think that it's just the nostalgy (although it's a major factor)

I agree 100%. It cuts between the old and new voice actors, it has the characters cut in and out of the layer in which they should appear and the mouse is just unbearable. I gave up playing it just because I couldn't deal with it. Not sure if I want to move on to #2 from here if it's going to be anything like the Director's cut of #1

Agreed. Just the fact that you can't die is disappointing. I'm buying the old one now on

Just read the previous posts for a few that we have encountered.

Is there a way to turn off the really annoying blue circles that pop up all over the screen in this version? o.O Some audio filtering would be nice for the horribly compressed 8-bit dialog recordings, along with some consistent audio levels. I did enjoy the new intro story, although I agree it spoils the dramatic beginning.

i didn't have any bugs on the ipod touch (same game) and i've just recently bought it on steam.

i do like the new scenes and new graphics, i think they're awesome :).

But the blue hint circles are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t... makes it much too easy for a good click and point ^^

I regret purchasing this game on here.
Too bad it doesn't come with an option to switch all the additions off. They've ruined the flow of the game with hints, mini games, and unneeded additional content like the new intro.

Also, I dislike the new art style they used. This is especially noticable during the George intro, where they put in some new shots in the clown scene. It looks very cheap. The audio isn't done well either. They put in new higher quality audio while keeping much of the old stuff as well, making it very noticable.

I haven't played this version much as I was quickly put off by it. However, I did not encounter any bugs. So there is at least that.

I got it free on gog by backing their new Broken Sword game on kickstarter. If the page is active you might be able to get the two for the price of one :)
