Kalypso account required?
I've noticed a lot of kalypso games require you to create a kalypso account (with a valid email address) and log in at least once before you can play. Is that the case with this game?

Yes, it is.

That's unfortunate. It's also not indicated on the game's store page.

yes, this really sucks. Welcome on my NO BUY List Kalypso!

I was thinking some of their older games didn't have their launcher, but I haven't found much info about it yet. They seem to make some great games, but I'm just done with this kind of thing. C'est la vie, eh?

I'm playing this game right now and I never setuo an account. It told me that I'm only allowed play co-op but not the other mode until I setuo an account. Maybe it was co-op over LAN or something like that.

Why is it a problem to sign up to Kalypso? ( I don't know what that is, assuming it's like EA )

It's a problem because it involves handing out personal information to yet another company, and I've yet to hear a justification as to *why* it's needed. It obviously doesn't stop piracy, these aren't MMOs where you need to be able to ban people, and any of the 'features' the launcher provides could be provided either by steam, or without the use of my email address.

In fairness, from my understanding, the kalypso launcher is no where near as bad as what EA has attempted to foist on us in the form of Origin. I just don't know what's wrong with the old model: I give you money, you give me a game, we both walk away happy.

Oh, thanks for the explanation. I can understand not wanting to give such information since they don't tell you why they need it, but so far, I haven't had any issues with making an account on Kalypso, and I think I have one for Origin. -shrug-

Why is it a problem? It's a problem because they never sent me account confirmation. So now I have a game installed I can't play. Maybe if I get over my disgust I'll follow up on this someday. For now....deleting local content.

I've actually picked up a couple of their games (including this one) in different bundles; I installed one of them, found the launcher, and deleted it. The Patrician series seems to have everything I liked about Anno series, which I also abandoned due to DRM. At least, from what I've heard, I'm not missing much by not playing Anno 2070 - aside from the couple of bucks I dropped on it, of course :-/

Try forwarding the email to their support email account - they should be able to help with registration issues.

I put in a service ticket a week ago and got nothing but an automated response. I'll wait a bit longer before completely giving up.

Okay I don't know why but suddenly I got a new activation link.
You should try it again "Tuold", perhaps you can get a new link now ^^
Tuold Jun 7, 2013 @ 10:10pm
Ripper, I'm glad it worked for you. Your problem seems a bit different. I didn't get a bad link. I got no link at all. Tried again tonight with no luck.
