Senko no Ronde 2 PS4 physical release update!

Following on from the sneak look at the book that comes with the Limited Edition, we've updated the official homepage with more information about the PlayStation4 release.
The limited edition comes in a specially designed outer box which contains the game, the book, the soundtrack on CD, and an archive of various art from the Senko series on DVD. There's a sample of the soundtrack available if you can't wait to hear Yasuhisa Watanabe's always striking Senko soundscape.

First of all, apologies for keeping everyone waiting for so long for news on this, making a book is not as simple as it seems!

However, we're finally able to give you all a sneak peek at the Senko no Ronde 2 Materials Guide, a hard-covered, glossy, 64 page art book with info on the characters, the Rounders and more to boot!

Balance Changes (Ver 1.17121801)

Details of the balance adjustments included in today's update are included below.

Shared Changes

Strengthened Offensive Unit ability (adjusted no. of shots and shot speed)
Increased amount Armor Drain ability heals.
Increased Explosion ability's affect time and decreased its reload time.
Increased Super Charge ability's affect time.
Using a BOSS beam attack now drains BOSS Mode armor gauge (just as in Duo).

Lev

When in BOSS Mode, opponent will now turn to face Lev's BOSS.
Reduced close-range damage (charge gauge).

Minor adjustments to hit and completion timing of Bullet Canceller, and AOE of wind pressure

Today's update includes the following:

Lobby functionality added
Accessed via Player or Ranked matches: start to look for an opponent, then use X button to open a lobby and choose an opponent. The icon next to the player name shows their connection speed.
Ability select added for Valken and Virtual On DLC
This works the same as with other characters, but will not change the operator.
Extensive balance changes

Added ability to change keyboard controls
This is offered via an .ini file found in the installation directory. Open it with a text editor, change the controls to suit you then save the file before running the game. NB: we are unable to support this function, so please use as is.

Virtual On and Valken join the fray!

You read it right, today marks the release of two new DLC rounders for Senko no Ronde 2.

Virtual On

First up, we have Temjin and Fei-Yen from Sega's Virtual On.
A speedy rounder, or Virtuaroid, Temjin is speedy and highly manouverable combining a beam sword for melee and a beam rifle for ranged attacks. Temjin's B.O.S.S. Mode is unique too; Fei-Yen flys in to rain heart-shaped destruction on your opponent.

Valken/Cybernator

Then we have Jake Brain piloting the Valken from Assault Suits Valken (or Cybernator outside of Japan). As its name suggests, the ASS-117A is a bulky, heavily armed fighting machine, featuring all the attacks you remember from the 1992 original and one you won't: Valken's B.O.S.S. Mode!

Today's update has two major features: the first being the much requested operator select feature and the second the addition of two new rounders available via DLC.

10/05 Update: Sound Fix (Ver 1.17100402)

Yesterday's update only fixed some sound issues, so we have another minor update today to address the remaining problems. Apologies to those of you who this affected.

10/03 Update: Balancing improvements and network fixes

Thanks to all your reports we've been able to address several balancing issues, including one which was affecting network play. Details, as always are below.

Updates

Fixed an issue with some PCs where sound effects were not playing
Fixed an issue which may have switched host and guest in an online match
Fixed an issue where the key guide was not displaying correctly on the character select screen when using a Direct Input controller
Fixed an issue where using B.O.S.S. Mode in close quarters would momentarily disable the other player
Fix for Karel's B.O.S.S.Mode spawning without arms if activated after having its arms destroyed
Added a short period of invulnerability when firing a Hyper Beam
Napalm attacks no longer cause knockbacks and can now be guarded using barrier.
Fixed DLC characters leaderboards (Lili & Karel)

In particular, if you have any online issues which can be replicated, we're looking into fixes now so any additional information is appreciated.
