I had that the first time I played it. ♥♥♥♥ed me off to no end, and I'm not even sure what made it working again.
Now, I'm not a technician but i suggest you check that your video card is updated, you try playing the game on minimum graphical settings, etc etc.
By the way... I've heard that for some reason Amnesia can be picky about what card you have. Now, i don't know if this is true, BUT I do know that the game will refuse to run if you use integrated graphics instead of a graphics card (or you don't have one).
Again, i'm not a technician, just trying to be a bro, please look up a more reliable support site if you're still stuck!

A graphics card being integrated does stop NOT a game from playing. That's just total nonsense.

Actually it does. It says right in the paragraph that says "Windows requirements" "Integrated graphics cards may not work." This is because your integrated cards are designed to support your computer, you get a dedicated card for extra muscle when running graphics intensive games. Now Amnesia doesn't like Intel and it will never work for intel. Radeon does work, but mine has been having booting problems.

This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nonsense that game developers will throw out if you're using onboard video on a motherboard but integrated graphics does not mean a bad video card. Laptops for example have no choice but to have their card integrated into the motherboard. You obviously do not know what the ♥♥♥♥ you're talking about, because that's just NOT true.

Have you tried running it in windowed mode? That's what worked for me, full screen always gave me the stupid black screen and my whole notebook froze.
PoisonEra Dec 3, 2012 @ 4:20pm
It is a graphics card problem- I had an integrated graphics card on my computer which was relatively rubbish for most games- Amnesia hated it- giving me the black screen no matter what I did.
I had to get it changed. Amnesia needs open GL to work- most graphics cards have/support it, but integrated ones don't.

Same thing happened to me, but I updated my graphics card and then it worked. Diagnose the problem on google. This happened to me a long time ago so I can't really remember where I got the fix.
