But anyways: The Engine does not support modifications, just custom stories.
Full conversations would not work with the workshop, and entities that share the same name would overwrite each other and cause the game to mess up. I really don't see a reason for the workshop implementation. That would be more work for Frictional Games , but also for the Steam-Development-Team. Because Frictional is not that big, it would slow their future development. They are currently doing... something... http://somasystems.org/
It's not much but they are making secret stuff on their facebook page. I don't want to slow them down. They release games once in three years. That is my problem with the workshop-idea.
The piggy-part: Well, you are right. I don't think that it would have been that bad for the engine to let the player interact with everything, but I think the problem were the outdoor areas, where you could throw stuff over houses and it could glitch or something like that. But I totally agree that it was not necessary. Making enities "physical simulated" is not that har in HPL2.
