This game is not scary at all.
Ya really folks, i am now in that big room with the strange water fountain, already explored Study and Food Storage and i haven´t got freaked since i started the game. But i adore the atmosphere and the deep story which i am losing in.

Anybody with common symptoms? The monsters are weird , but not scary.

Have you tried the new A MAchine for Pigs? It's a different way to create tension.
But obvious it's up to you, everyone is scared in a different way.
I love The Dark Descent and gave me some bad time (the worst are even to come, be prepared, that's still nothing! Really!) but not really freaked out, With A Machine for Pigs i had to stop sometimes to take a break, too anxiuos and panic.
Give it a try if you can. But i might suggest you to avoid videos, playtrgouht and, most important, the forum here, it's full of rage of people thinking to have a direct Amnesia sequel. Make up your mind, i won't regret to have both.

Go on walking, it will be more scary during your progress tjrough the maps. If it is not scary to you: Well, that's your opinion. For the most people who play it, it is scary, so I think we can definitly say that it is scary.

I find that by purposely lowering my sanity to ... makes it a bit more strange

My first playthrough I didnt think the game was scary at all, so I quit. I then retried the game when I was alone in the dark at 3AM. I had to quit the game because I nearly ♥♥♥♥ my pants. Having the game's atmosphere match your own is very helpful.

Penguin what are your graphic settings? and do you use headphones with inbuilt bass and directional sound system? Cause if the settings are on lowest and you have no way of enhancing the sound experience i understand the problem.

my suggestion is to check if the pc can run the game on max settings, you might wanna ask your parents first if its a shared computer, next get some good headphones ( sound is everything in the game) and lastly if you are allowed to stay up late try to play the game as late as possible. And!, no lights on in the room, no checking walkthroughs nor guides, no playing with friends or talking with someone over skype, you must handle the game all by yourself.

I can't see why someone would say this is not scary. I played a lot of horror games in the past and I have to say that this is the most intense I've ever played. Suggestions to improve epicness:
1) Play it in complete darkness, so that nothing in the surroundings of the monitor is visible.
2) Play with headphones. You will hear A LOT more ambient sounds like voices, scratches, footsteps, wind etc.
3) Try to get involved to the horror. If you start the game with the attitude: "Well, pff, let's see if this is able to affect me... *yawn*... where are the monsters?", then you close your mind to the horror completely. This is kind of self-cheating. Play as YOU are Daniel. What would YOU do?

It's scary as ♥♥♥♥ to me.. Well idk, you are not that far yet.

A machine for pigs was a lot less scary to me, the story was disturbing though.

If this game didn't scare him then A Machine for pigs will make him fall asleep.

Who said? Maybe he find it scarier, like me and many others. You didn't like it? Fine, not everyone MUST act and think like you. Deal with it dude. Opinions aren't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s.
