My computer freezes every time I start the game, please help

My specs are:
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
RAM: 11.95 GB DDR3
OS: Windows 8
I have made sure to update anything updateable.
Now, the problem:
Whenever I start the game I first get that little box with some options, and everything is alright. Then, when I click "Launch game", all I see is something that looks like a zoom-in on the upper left corner of my desktop. Then, if I press the windows key, I get to the start menu, but my mouse won't move, it's just stuck in the upper left corner. Then, after pressing WinKey+D a few times, I get to my desktop, completely regular-looking, but my mouse still won't move. The only option I have is to press the power button on my PC. I have tried 5 times over the last few days (I bought it on the flash sale, tried to start it the next day). I know it's not about weak specs, but does anyone have an idea of what it might be?

I am having the same problem and I can't figure out how to fix it either. I can at least help you fix your computer when it freezes though. When it freezes on me, it either gives me a black screen or freezes on the nordic games screen, I press ctrl+alt+delete. Then select amnesia and end task. Much easier than restarting computer. i wsh I could actually fix the game though.

SOLVED all i did was find the exe file and change the dpi setting.

lol. I am pretty much sure none of you has the SAME problem... I mean: Do you have the exact same Hardware/Software combination?
Well Updating drivers is my first way to suggest, but don't forget: Win8 does not like Amnesia and vice versa... I don't know why but sometimes it just does not even start and sometimes it works perfectly well... With Win8 it is more like: Good luck.

I updated to W8.1 and tried starting it up and it seems to work perfectly. I only went to options and got controls and display how I wanted it before I went to bed, but as it doesn't ♥♥♥♥ my computer, I'm guessing it will work.

Sorry for asking, but why using 8 and 8.1 when 7 it's still even better for gaming? My curiosity.
Techically they where both equal, but 7 have a better retro compatibility. I got to work some very old games whitout works around.

I only recently (spring) got my rig, so I just didn't want to go through the extra trouble of switching Windows version. Also, 8.1 fixed a lot of issues from 8, and whenever SteamOS comes around I'll give dualbooting a go and use that as my primary gaming OS.

I got my computer 2 months ago and: It is running with Win7 as OS. But yes, you are right Windows 8.1 is better then 8 because of a lot of bugfixes and improvements. But anyways: It is still Windows Vista major release 3 (Windows 6.3.9600), just saying.

I got this issue too.. I can play Justine.. but lately when i try and run Amnesia... it goes to black screen like it is going to load... but never does. Keyboard freezes and I can tell because when I press NUMLOCK the light stays on and doesn't go off no matter how many times. That means keyboard is locked out also... so no control+alt+del

I literally have to press the PC's reset button. Not cool. That's called a violent crash in my book.

This game used to work... I wonder if steam updates causes it to fail?
