Dark Screen Fix?

Everytime I try to start Amnesia, the menu shows nothing but black, and from what I've seen it should be a hallway with a torch. Whenever I start the game, no picture, just the reticle and everything else is black, but I can hear sounds like running water...
Please, help would be much appreciated.

Maybe your videocard isn't supported or your drivers aren't up to date. Check this first!

I tried updating it, but it won't update itself... Says it's at it's best.

mine does the same i can see the screen and the starting menu but when i start the game there is no picture but a white dot

Thats a big mistake: You don't see the whole menu. There is a map in the background, you shouldn't see either. Post your computer specs. Do you use a laptop? What kind of graphics card do you use?

Try raising the gamma in the game options. The beginning of the game is very dark.

No it isn't. In fact: The beginning is the brightest part of the game. You can raise your gamma to a maximum, but you should even see something with the lowest Gamma available.

Sorry I took so long to respond, but I figured out the problem and yes I do use a laptop and it's an outdated Video Card that's the issue. But because of the model I can't update it. Thanks anyways.
