Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Statistiche:
Scary?
Before I buy it, just wanted to know how scary this is. The scarier, the better. I only ask because, although not similar, games such as Dead Space 2 left me kinda dissapointed.

Nobody can really tell since everybody finds other things scary. But from my experience it's much scarier than Dead Space 2. Dead Space 1 was a scary game but I'd still say Amnesia is scarier.
Personally, I would say the Dead Space serie is a joke compared to Amnesia
Amnesia is more of a play on the gamer's mind, some may think a sound is just nothing or that something bad will happen. And most times the more you get into the game, the more that comes into play.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent itself is not scary. It does not contain many jumpscares (approx. 3). The story itself is what you should focus on. You should never play this game for the horror, because the most things that are scary or terifying are the things that are in the story or aside the regular path (eg. parts of dead bodies, organs or sth like this). The monsters are not scary, they just make your heart raise, but they are like regular enemies in games and (to be honest) are veeeery stupid, but deadly. I would recommend the game to anybody, but not for the horror and more for the experience.
I would agree that you will find yourself drawn into the story and the overall experience. The monsters are mostly frightning because you don't always see them clearly or at all and you have no way to fight them. It took me a while get into it, but I really enjoyed it when it started to click. The puzzles are not frustratingly hard and it's satisfying when you figure something out. The atmosphere is really well done as well. Great and different kind of game.

How come nobody else finds the monsters scary? On my first playthrough I never found out what they looked like because of was too afraid to look at them. ^^
As was mentioned above, the sort of "scariness" you will experience playing Amnesia is not the conventional sort you find in horror films. I found the element of fear in the game both engaging and profound. The monsters and gory images you encounter throughout the game are there to spark your interest into the storyline of the game. I confess that my heart was pounding almost every instance I saw/heard a creature, but it wasn't unbearable. I think overall the level of "scariness" the game offers is synonomous with the Goldilocks Effect - 'just right'. Give it a try!

as long as yo have not watched anything on it and you go into completely blind than you will get scared. of course after you have beaten the game a couple of times you will find that it has no replayability. it really is a one time thing.
It is very scary if u are doing the campain but custom stories have scary and not scary content.
It all depends on how easily you get scared. If you scare easily, it's a good horror game. If you don't, probably, or not. You shouldn't really play the game just for the horror; you should play it for the story line as well. Amnesia: The Dark Descent has a very interesting story line that pulled me in as I played along with it. If you're looking for jumpscares, good luck, because there aren't that many at all. I think there was two or three at most, but they weren't too intense for you to run out. The grunts & the brutes (the monsters) are what people find to be the scary part, as they can spawn anywhere & at anytime, so keep your eyes out for them. The dark settings & creepy music are also factors in the horror. I'd suggest not watching any content on this game & to go in without knowing what to do- it will better your experience (:
Just think "Toby turner is a good youtuber right?" Then search up TOBUSCUS PLAYS AMNESIA PART 1 (first part isnt scary so no spoilers)
I thought it was scary until my first death because thats when I found out how STUPID the monster was.
The whole amnesia campaign is trying to get to your head that its scary with the sanity and fogginess and lack of light and weapons.

horror games normally tend to really die somewhat when they have weapons. there is some good horror games with guns such as the first dead space but that also used environmental aspects and even ambiant noises to make the game scary. one could think the necromorphs in dead space are rediculous if they wanted to. a lets player laughed his whole way through the first three episodes of his lets play. also horror games play on other aspects other than darkness. the game is designed for horror and not action. if guns were put in the game it could end up like dead space 3 and transform into gears of war. so lastly, horror is really based on your idea of it. a good example is me thinking dead space 3 was like gears of war.
Don't buy it. Sure all the hype and little kids make it seem scary, but usually it all comes from a bunch of peoploe who frighten VERY easily.

Honestly, I didn't get scared from either game, but I did jump once or two in Dead Space 2.
Onh my first Amnesia playthrough I went through it in about 4-5 hours and by the end I was like "Well that wasn't scary."

Buy the Penumbra Collection.
It is cheaper and will bring you much more fright and a even deeper and chilling story.
It is even made by the same developer.
I am actually afraid to continue this game.
I am at the first level of Overture.
After the 4 years I have owned it...
