I cannot get Amnesia to run for the life of me.(Ubuntu 12.10)

I've been trying for the last TWO DAYS to get Amnesia to start up on Steam(Linux Beta). It was working a while ago, but it's not working anymore. Whenever I hit the "Play" button in my library, nothing happens. No window, nothing. Amnesia refuses to start up.

I thought maybe it was a Steam issue, but when I started up Team Fortress 2, it worked perfectly.

When I start up the steam_run.sh script from the Amnesia folder through the terminal from a fresh install and file verification, I get the following output:

/home/eduardo/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Amnesia The Dark Descent/run_steam.sh: line 12: ./checklibs.sh: No such file or directory
/home/eduardo/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Amnesia The Dark Descent/run_steam.sh: line 13: ./Launcher.bin: No such file or directory

Now, any simpleton could assume that this error code means that the script can't find "./checklibs.sh" or "./Launcher.bin". I don't know the reason why, since both files can be found in the same directory as run_steam.sh, and I left them both untouched.

I've had further problems, but I figured it would be best to use my results from the fresh install and start from the very beginning. Is there any reason why this particular problem would occur?

Are you running the same version of Ubuntu? I think this had everything to do with the recent Steam Update.

Yes, after steam update the same thing is happening to me to. I can run Amnesia by clicking on the launcher from the home directory, but not from within Steam.....

...I seem to have fixed it.
I backed up my saves, uninstalled Amnesia, deleted all of my Amnesia folders and config files, and reinstalled it. Seems to work now.

What operating system are you running? Windows or Ubuntu?
Regardless of what you're running though, uninstalling the game and deleting the entire game folder(C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Amnesia The Dark Descent if you're on windows, /home/USERNAME/.frictionalgames/Amnesia if you're on linux beta) might work for you like it did for me.

Mine has never worked. Just 'Black Box Error' shows up. Pisses me off. Bought it back in October and haven't been able to play it.

i downloaded the torrent and it works fine from the desktop shortcut but its **** after paying for it and waiting for it to download twice!!!!
