Game wont start.

Just bought this game. Installed it and when I click play I select my settings and then the game goes to black and that's it. No game. Computer becomes frozen. I have Phenom II x4 965. XFX 6970 radeon. 16 gb of DDR3 1600. Newest drivers and I maintain this system in the best condition. It is my gaming machine only. Nothing else is done on it. I have tried dozens of settings, all fixes I could find online. Turned off steam overlay, Can't get game to start in window mode. It just freezes up the whole system. Any suggestions?

i would contact steam support and frictional games support first. maybe they have something valuable to say.
