Turning off Sanity Meter
Anyone know how to mod the game to turn off the Sanity mechanic?

I have tried and tried. People keep telling me that after awhile I will like it but right now I must say that the sanity meter is the single most annoying game mechanic I have come across in a very long time...

It forces me to rush through everything and I cant really get immersed into the game becaues I constantly have to worry about this sanity meter....

Try turning off the graphical effects in the options mentioning sanity. You should find them in the launcher. It will not nullify sanity completely, but it will prevent your screen from getting distorted/warped when your sanity is low.

I was really hoping for a mod to completely disable it....

I don't get you people its a horror game and its ment to be hard and ment to be a challenge why can you just deal with it and play the game legit?

Because I thnk the mechanic is just annoying. It doesnt have to do with being hard or anything. The game would be much harder if every 5 seconds you lost all your vision as well but that doesnt happen because in the end it would just be annoying. Other horror games have nothing like this.

Most importantly it makes the game not scary, By forcing me to run through stuff, the monsters are not scary, they are just obstacles to my running

Have you played through the game? It gets disturbing when you get to Agrippa and the Transept, let me tell you that. The sanity meter is a good way to know if there are dangers nearby, too. Good luck!

I am at the beginning of the game. I sort of just gave up on it. I ran out of light sources and I already fell over in the Wine Cellar. I think maybe this game just isnt for me. The sanity meter really annoys me.

Other than that the gmae seems great.

I guess the game isn't for everyone. Well, allright. Have a good day!

That's not really true at all. Amnesia is designed to be pretty easy on the player. The game launches with a message telling you not to take it as a challenge but rather to immerse yourself in the story and experience. That runs through the whole design, even the sanity meter which at the most will wobble your camera around.

For the OP. I suggest just sticking with it, you'll eventually get used to knowing when to use your tinder boxes in the right areas. And even when you lose sanity it won't have a big impact on your game. It gets refilled at scripted moments. You can just ignore it really.

Okay, I may try to struggle through it. The great reviews make me want to give this every chance I can.

Just be prepared for the events that occur after you meet Agrippa, beause thats when things REALLY get crazy. Just a quick warning for when you get to that part.

you can find how to enable console commands with good ol' Dr. Google, which has an unlimited sanity command so it never goes down, which is like not having it in the first place.

How are you running out of light sources so quickly? In my playthrough at least, I felt there was no need to be stingy with oil and tinderboxes AT ALL since the game is very generous in that regard.

In fact, I loaded up my save just now to check, and I finished the game with 68 tinderboxes and 9 bottles of oil in my inventory. Darkness was basically a non-issue for me.

THANK YOU!!! OMG!!! Exactly what I was looking for. I will look up the console commands later.

I think I just dont find the tinderboxes because I am sprinting everywhere so I miss a lot of stuff.

Just as a suggestion. While I also dislike the sanity system, turning it off will have you miss out on a couple of clever events in the game. What about it bothers you the most?

What bothers me the most is that it makes me feel rushed. I am constantly sprinting everywhere trying to minimize my time in the dark. It prevents me from really getting into the game.
