How to center screen on hero? etc
I came here from playing LoL and there are a couple of things that really rile me that are stopping me from getting into Dota. For example, in LoL you can focus the screen on your champ by holding Spacebar. However, in Dota 2 I can't find an option for this (I have 'Select Hero' mapped to Space but that requires me to double tap it). Secondly, it seems you have to spam movement or stop orders to make your hero avoid attacking any enemy in range. Is there a command for this?
Thanks in advance for the help.

About attacking automaticaly, you can disable this option I think

You can also order your hero to stop attacking by pressing "H"

F1 is the default ket for Select Hero which I already mapped to spacebar. It just gets on my nerves that I have to double-tap it and that it seems to follow my hero with some delay.
Edit: The Stop and Hold keys seem to just cancel the current order, not stop future autoattacks, so you still have to spam it.
What I'm used to is a key you can press to stop autoattacking, like Hold Position, but still being able to autoattack when you haven't pressed the key. I'll look into disabling it completely.

You can bind on any key, mine is mouse4.

The problem isn't bindings, it's the lack of a command to say 'don't do anything until I say' rather that 'stop what you are doing then keep autoattacking'.
It seems there's no solution besides what I had previously, which is a shame.
Thanks again for your help.

There's an option in gameplay called "autoattack", turn it off and your hero will stop attacking without your consent.

'don't do anything until I say'
Turn off auto-attack in options.

alias +camera "dota_camera_lock 1"
alias -camera "dota_camera_lock 0"
bind c "+camera"

Thats the bind I use to center my hero.

How can I set binds in such a manner? My dev console won't open and my config.cfg keeps resetting when I change it in an external program.

You could put "-console" in launch options, or make an "autoexec.cfg" and put it in this directory: "...\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\cfg\".

Here's a great read about how to configure your Dota 2 even further:

However, in my opinion, some of those commands might give you an unfair advantage (Invoker macros for example). Even though it's most likely not a bannable offense, I discourage you from using them.

Thanks for the help again. I noticed that under 'Hold Position Behaviour' there's a solution to my other problem with autoattacking/Hold Position too, along with some other options to make it more like LoL such as enabling a range-finder when selecting a skill.
I'm all with you about preventing unfair advantages. I'll probably keep it at just the camera-lock.
Edit: Just tried out the +camera trick with Spacebar and it works perfectly. It even centres on my hero when it's not selected. Thanks so much!
