Center on your hero.
Is there a way to bind some key, let's say K to be an off switch for centering the camera on your hero?

On: Camera is always centered.
Off: You can move the camera around, for example to fire a 2-step ulti.

In other words, I would like to have the camera always follow the hero unless I explicitly decide otherwise.

I know that mobile camera is there for a reason, but it's not very comfortable for me.

There isn't, but there is a sort of compromise. If you have a key bound to select your hero and double-tap it, it will center the camera on your hero. Double-tap and hold to keep it centered. Because I like to be able to quickly center on my hero and sometimes hold the camera, I use Space Bar, but I'd like to convince you that you should really consider using W, A, S, D to direct your camera most of the time.
If you choose to reset your key-binds there is an option to reset the camera controls to W, A, S, D, and your skills are rebound to Q, E, R, F. It's easy to learn, and *very* useful.
F1 selects your hero, so just press it twice and your camera will jump back to your hero and it will be centered. Of course it's not a constant centering, but I can't imagine why you'd want to do that... it's just horrible not being able to check your outskirts.

As ZhaKul just said, press F1. That'll take you to wherever you are. Can be VERY handy in the middle of team fights when you get lost in the blur on your screen.

It's a matter of preference, as a more RPG than RTS player I find it quite difficult for now to mind almost everything around me. But i guess I would need to get used to that. Thanks a lot, both ZhaKul and H3IIM4rine.
Yeah, well RPG is different... there you usually see things through the eye of the character or a top level view, but still the focus is you. Team fights on the other hand are different... people need to be able to check parts of the map freely... to see where the enemy is coming from and how and try to react to the aggression in time ( or for you to set up such attacks instead ), also certain spells with very long range ( or global range ) wouldn't be even usable if one couldn't scroll around.

As you have stated yourself, you'll just need to get used to it. Don't forget, this is a team game, so it's not just about how you see yourself and your limited area, but it's also about you keeping an eye on the map and rushing to help your team or take out lonely wondering heroes whenever needed / possible.

Without a helping and well balanced team, chances are slim that you will be able to take out 5 enemy heroes alone... you need your team and your team needs you, so you need to be able to keep on eye on everything around you, not just what's right in front of you.
