PLEASE READ! The Punishment system and ways to improve it!
I'm frustrated by the current punishment system for many reasons.

- First off, let's understand why the punishment policy is enforced. People are punished because of verbal abuse and intentional leaving. Now, I was recently punished because there was a guy in my game cursing at me through a micro phone. I typed some things back at him that might not have been appropriate but I definitely did not abuse anyone. Second, the player started doing things in-game to ruin my quality of playing, essentially wasting my time and making things very uncomfortable to play. At this point, we are losing very badly. I see no reason to stay for the last 5 minutes of a 35 minute game because you have to give courtesy to the other team that is now, 40 kills to our 10. That team which is now, dragging on the game trying to get more items when the inevitable is already a reality. All these situations, multiplying together, caused me to leave. Now I had, no idea you could be banned for a day by doing any of this. DOTA then bans me for a day with no warning, and no attempt at understanding my situation. This policy is extremely cut throat and disrespectful to players who are in certain circumstances such as this. Although, I do believe a punishment system is needed for a heightened quality of play for DOTA gamers.

The solution,
I believe there are some steps DOTA 2 can take to improve their "punishment" system.

- I believe that if a player was never banned before they should be given a weaker time out, the current time frame in place is 1 day, lets change that to one hour from their up and coming log-in, as well as clearly outlining what the problem was. If they abuse again in the same 24 hours then make it a day, so on.

- Furthermore, I have come to the conclusion that players give up at the end of games. Its not a matter of if, or when. Its reality, if you are down 40 to 10 and its after 30 minutes, the other team is not ending the game. 2 Of your teammates are AFK but they wont get punished because they are "In Game Leaving". One of your other teammates is 0-10, going in to be devoured again, that it wears on you and the hopes of any kind of miraculous win are absolutely unreachable. We should be afforded the ability to leave the game in hopes to join another DOTA 2 game with new beginnings, hope, more time, and more energy that wasn't wasted on the end of a doomsday game. In other words, I believe DOTA 2 should allow players to leave a game if someone disconnects permanently as well as if you are being beat by lets say 300-400% of your score (ex. 10 / 40, would be 400%) and only if the time of the game has reached 30minutes. Two checks and balances to allow someone to leave.

- Lastly, I strongly believe, above all of these suggestions, there should be a way to remove days with good behavior. If you play 10, for example, games without abandoning, purposely feeding or verbally abusing anyone you should receive a day off of your punishment. I understand a reward for good behavior might encourage people to abandon games and then make them up in the future, which could still harm the quality of play for DOTA gamers. But, I believe that this would be a form of punishment and a way to encourage good play by players who were, otherwise, misbehaving. 10:1 ratio, will be a fair ratio I think. If you make an action to get punished then you make 10 actions to make it up, or wait for your days punishment to be done.

I believe DOTA 2 is a great new game, but there is work to be done on it's interface and modifications to player satisfaction. Please comment on this with any ideas you have regarding the punishment system on DOTA 2, or if you agree with any of this. Thank you.

you are not banned for a day it is just harder to find a match and you get no battlepoints and you should just stay those last 5 min anyway you could mabey get an item
You can still play, you just might get grouped up with more trolls. leavers and feeders than in a normal match. The 24 hour low priority queue is automatic for anyone who get's an abandon, no matter the reason they left.

with the amount of money dota 2 is making right now, and the amount of games that are going on, there is no way that they could be monitoring every single one of your games and judging who is morally right and who is morally wrong. there is no "weaker punishment" because they want to make a strict point that they do not want you to leave. If there was a 1 hour ban, i would leave, come back in an hour and then leave again.

i stayed in the punishment pool for 6 months a while back because i just didnt give a ♥♥♥♥,
but overall my advice is just stay in the game and wait those extra 5-10 minutes. I guarentee, no one will be on your side on this one.

lol main poster ^^^ A day is nothing. You don't need to come in on your high horse acting like you want to better the system for everyone. Everyone who gets low priority feels the need to justify it and act like they are a victim. One day is nothing. How many hours do you play in a day? 2? 4? If you're that upset over playing in low priority, play a different game for that one day period.

cXc makes some good points.

I hate the game with a passion when the game is lost and you are forced to waste you time. I have no idea why they don't put in a concede.

OP, there are rules, this isnt out of the blue. Also there is no special conditions when you deserve to leave. You play to the end or dont play. That simple. You act life five minutes is so astronomically important.

Its not about being outcast because of a mistake or two. Players deserve the right to redeem themselves, other then serving "jail time". Yea we can still play basketball, but we sleep in a cell. Make another redemption option other then sitting out of normal matches and cutting gamers off from points. We will see better player satisfaction.
