Surrender option.
Simple post. Add a surrender vote option. Nobody wants to play a game that's 0 kills on one team and 30+ kills for the other where the other team deliberately refuse to end the game in order to farm hero kills on the platform. The fact that there's no surrender option already just makes me sad. I thought Valve had more sense than this. This is a reason why I think "Maybe I'll play one of the other MOBA games, and not Dota 2". Just add this vote function, it's clearly needed. Thanks for listening and you're welcome for my feedback.

well, 2 many times in hon, after we are loosing with 0-7 kills, someone calls surrender, when some player is 0-4, teammate calls surrender, so later on it gets boring.

tell me, how many times did your team losing 30-0? i have played 200+ matches, and maybe we got dominated 5 times, when you really want to quit(surrender). so, i think its not a big deal.

and yea, maybe the best option for you would be another moba game, like you said. so i cant see a problem?

what do we say to surrender option?

I personally feel that the surrender option isn't a good idea because it also encourages defeatism. I've played a few games where not even 20 minutes had passed and some pleyer on my team was going 'gg', 'end it plz' and 'ff' even though it was fairly tied, or at most with a 2- 6 kills disadvantage or a difference of 2 - 4 towers taken. Such a game is still winable. I've also played games where the enemy pushed aggressively till they took all our towers and were trying to take our base but we still won after many successful teamfights and feeding on them as they came wave after wave to die by our tower to one of our carries.

So yeah, forfeit options would probably take away those types of really good comebacks.

I do think that Valve could implement a matchmaking pool in which a person chooses whether they want the option to forfeit, under certain conditions so as not to make it too easy, or if they don't. Everybody would be happy and trolling/intentional feeding by those who like to surrender will be greatly reduced in the non forfeit pool.

Maybe add a surrender button where it goes with majority votes from the team wishing to surrender so then its not up to one guy who quits early and wastes everyone time

well i don't mind about surrender function but there are time when you can do come back.
i remember we won the game even with 30 to 50 by pushing the lane/backdooring
so if they do put surrender put it like in 30+ min in to the game or when player DC not everyone leave the game to make it over so put on surrender option when player DC isn't bad idea either

All your anecdotal evidence is amazing and great and all but completely worthless. You have to look at the facts. Dota 2 is extremely harsh. If you die you give money to the enemy team but you also lose money directly and lose money through being able to farm creep since you're dead and also the enemy is likely to have more map control than you and be stronger so are able to deny you farming creep effectively. A winning team will usually always snowball and get stronger and stronger whilst the losing team get's comparitively weaker. Yes there can be comebacks, but with a surrender vote option there can still be comebacks as the majority of the team must agree with the vote. This just allows a user to leave a game early without punishment to play a game with a chance of winning.

To answer name required "Just play another game I cant see the problem" If everyone just went to play another MOBA, Dota 2 would have no users left and valve would not be happy with that.

Thank you for taking the time to educate me but I'm very aware of the fact that Dota is harsh and very hostile towards mistakes, that's part of the reason I like it so much, because in this game I still can make mistakes, IRL I can't. I'm just not the kind of person to back down or want to forfeit when the going gets rough...I'm also not the kind of person to want to force others to play when they don't want to, so that's why if I could vote, I would vote for seperate matchmaking pools but against a global surrender option, that would change the game dynamics in ways I find a bit unpleasant.

Anyways, nice description of the logistics of Dota foraging there, I shall have to listen to the Art of War while playing muahahahaha.

Sounds to me like the people who don't like it are afraid of having a team feeling defeated and quitting early when they themselves think they can still make it. I think the surrender option should be there, but it needs to be a unanimous vote, that way no one feels cheated from a game.
Crossbow 5 déc 2012 à 13h25
People would abuse the surrender option and it encourages defeatism. I've seen it happen far too many times in other games, to the point where it gets so that if you are winning with a 50% advantage your opponents will all leave the game.
DeathStroke 5 déc 2012 à 13h30
yes, a surrender button is needed. And its their fault if they could of made a comeback but surrendered.

NEVER SURRENDER, WITH GLORY WE'LL FALL!

If the teams are imbalanced, just wait for the first disconnecter and wait 5 more minutes, then leave. I really wanted a surrender button when I first started playing Dota 2, but I've found that the amount of players that just drop out is so high, there is no need for it anymore.

No, there are already 2 terrible games with that option for people like you to play, so go and play them instead of spamming these forums.
If you are stuck with player that make you want to ragequit it's because you got matched to your level.

No, it's because you got matched with teammates that suppress their primal instincts by not running away from a fight they can't possibly win: a.k.a. feeding. I know this because most of the kills I make are due to clumsy players simply not fleeing. It is the very reason I am better at DotA 2 than LoL, which is kind of sad really.

I think the main problem that would happen is that some people already feel that the game is lost if the other team makes First Blood. Then they start trolling and/or whining on and on about how everyone is a noob or about how the team composition is so bad and yadda yadda yadda. They might even be right in the end, or it becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy brought on by their own attitude but it's annoying.

Another thing that might happen is people specifically trying to get people of the other team to surrender with other tactics. Continuously ganking and focusing on one person, trying to irritate, try to demoralise etc are all things that people could start doing to try and get people to want to leave. It changes the dynamics of the game a bit, which I personally think is a bad idea. Instead of "how are we going to get to their Ancient", it could turn into "how are we going to p*ss them off so much that they'll want to ragequit en masse?"
