Regions locked by IP?
Seriously. Why is it even an option to play in another region where you will likely get a worse ping, not speak their language and annoy the ever living ♥♥♥♥ out of the people there.
Now I can understand competitive play allowing folks play in different regions where they may compete but now with the team system you're likely to play in a team and that could easily be excluded from a region lock.

Nothing is more frustrating than playing in US east or US west where, by pure localization, the spoken language is typically english. Yet more often than not you get people yammering in spanish, brazilian portuguese, russian, french, etc.

There is nothing good about this. How are we expected to play a team game where communication is basically not possible (the radial menu only goes so far)

Region lock. Bring it.

100% agree, i would even pay for this. Yes use my hard earn money to play with other people from US east ONLY!!! No offense but people from different regions from the world play a different style of dota and adapting is not an option.

Okay, since you willing to pay for it, we will bring it in next update ASAP. But you better not let us down and shell out those "hard earned money" to make it worth our time.

I agree. Region lock by IP. The only way anyone can play in that region if they don't live there is If someone invites them that lives in that region. Problem solved across the board.

Yep. Don't think valve would ever do it though which makes me sad.

Oh look...probably a guy playing outside his region.

Just like last night....guy from south america playing on US server.....constant ♥♥♥♥♥ about 1000 ping. DC multiple times trying to fix. Then feed because he lagged so bad he couldn't play. Well we lost....imagine that.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s like that ruin the game for others. Because he is too ♥♥♥♥ing selfish to play on his own region server. This is the exact reason why region lock is needed.

Oh look, it's this thread again.

Valve already stated that there will be no region lock, yet people are still making at least one 'Region lock! ♥♥♥♥ Russians!' thread per day.

Don't assume that everyone has bad connection. I have ~150 ping in US, despite living on the other half of Earth.

If players doesn't want to use teamwork, then his ability to understand what you're saying is absolutely irrelevant. If he does want to be a team player, then he can do it w/o saying a word,

It's not about russians. It's about people who speak other languages and ruin any chance of teamwork. When you have 3 guys speaking spanish, french, portuguese, whatever, on an english majority server (90+ %) and they are clearly trying to communicate with you (calling your hero, whatever) it's nearly impossible to get anything done.

When the opponent has 5 people who are likely communicating, or have even the possibility of communicating, versus 5 people who really cannot, the outcome is almost always in the side who works together's favor.

With the type of game dota is, that heavily relies on teamwork, the language barrier is a complete no-no and there are solutions that can fix this for everyone, and everyone would be happier for it.

If you see downsides to a region lock, please elaborate.

Did I mention Russians anywhere in my reply??? Nope. Did I assume someone has bad connection? Nope. He had bad connection because he had bad connection. No assumption needed. He ♥♥♥♥♥ed the whole game and fed because of it. Which ruined my game because the ♥♥♥♥♥ucker was too selfish to play in his own region.

Thanks for the no value add reply tho

well ♥♥♥♥ing said, I am in the US and play here as well as in other region (granted I usually stick to Euro west). Had to shake my had to the 2nd post who complained that they play DOTA2 differently and adapting isn't an option.. yeah.. just what I want..the same tired boring 70 mins game after game against the same people because some mouth breather doesn't want to learn to counter another region tactics.
