That's was funny man, yeah, is just like that, truth, but it's still being a problem.
Riderspace Apr 2, 2013 @ 12:15pm
Oh and this is not a problem of maturity, if you know the definition of mature, no one is mature, less people presumed to be so. Just wanted to tell you my problem with the absurd sensitivity automatic punishment system, if you want to feel like Einstein saying things I take as obvious, then you can do it, is a free forum, just try to not be aggressive.
FrazerJC Apr 2, 2013 @ 12:24pm
It's sensitive for a reason, though. When someone leaves, they are ruining that game for the nine others in the game.
You can get away with this once, but not twice (not in a short period of time, at least).
Riderspace Apr 2, 2013 @ 12:31pm
Thanks Frazer, that can be my problem, I just get out of the system, and thanks to this I'm back in for a couple of days, probably because I had the same problem recently, as you say.
Riderspace Apr 2, 2013 @ 12:31pm
In a short period of time... :/

What I don't get is why do the same amount fo low priority time for bot game leaves? I've mostly been playing bot games since I started since I already had a good understanding of how to play so I didn't want to get matched up with low levels that don't know what to do at all ina real game. Anyways, I had some network problems yesterday, and I tried to come back as soon as I could, but since the game only gives you 5 minutes to come back (which really isn't that much time at all) I am now in low priority since it had happened once earlier in the day when I thought I fixed everything.

tl:dr
Valve really needs to reconsider how this system works, it's just not correct in really any aspect and definitely needs mroe attention than other parts of the game.

sorry chap, 5 mins is plenty of time to reconnect.. go watch some games and see what can happen in just 5 mins since you assume it's not that long of time. A pub game has no clue why you disconnected they're not going to pause the game for 5 mins waiting on you to reconnect. I can also guarentee the ratio of rage quitters\abandon far out weighs the people with legitimate connection issue. And, as many have pointed out. it doesn't usually stick you in there for a first offense, usually takes a couple and reports... so if you're getting in there maybe you want to rethink your play style.. and if you're connection drops.. maybe wait to try another game until your sure it's stable and not going to drop you. World won't end if you take a 30 minute break.

I have to agree with Riderspace its not age which causes the problem , it is bad ips in the UK etc and not much any one can do about it.
For example I lived in essex a year ago and I had a wonderfull 20mb connection no internet issues etc, best internet I ever had.
Recenlty I moved to norfolk and now the highest speed internet you can get in my area is 3mbs(that is if you pay though the teeth and still you don't recive it), now I get weeks in which I just lag regardless of my setup(each time the kids have school holidays my connect drops greatly) I have called my ips more times then I can remeber and the issue is never solved.
My ips wanted to cancel my subsribtion because I phone so much, I had to take a complaint to managment in the end.

It is shelfish for a company to ban players because of bad connections which can not be helped.

So there is not much which can be done about bad connections
Best bet is to try hard to reconnect, but sometimes even that won't work(I have had nights in which internet was down all night and next morning)

Then don't play. Sorry, but this is a team game. If you can't stay connected and drop, then you screw 4 other people by making it imbalanced and the winning team out of getting stats and having a fun game. You want to complain that valve is ruining the game for you because of this system when you're more than happy to ruin the game for 9 other people. If it's that big of a deal, find 5 other people who won't care, won't report you and don't mind playing until you reconnect and queue with them. It's not our fault your connection is bad and WE shouldn't be punished for it because you want to play.

Every one is entitled to play the game they wish !
I don't ruin it for no one, the game should no rely on one player to make a diffenerts.
And I always do my best to reconnect!.
No one punsihs you but your self

What I find happening more often than it should, is things like internet have problems that are unexpected and not planned at all, it could be working great for one minute and then BOOM, ♥♥♥♥ty connection. Idk where you live, nor do I care, but people in other places will have unplanned problems with their internet and really like playing this game, it's not their fault they can't play the game when they can't, it's the bad management of internet providers. You think that we want back in to just screw the team over, how about you go for a while with internet that drops far under 1 mbs and you can't do anything about it. People who like this game and really enjoy playing it should have the right to play it whether or not their internet will mess them up randomly.
Xiane [dBs] Apr 2, 2013 @ 1:48pm
So they have the right to constantly lag or disappear on their teammates?

Seriously I do understand the point of view you are trying to get across. My original internet connection way back when was 28.8, 400 ping on FPS servers. You'd think unplayible now days but I wanted to play. However yes certain servers would deny my presence. Unfair?

Perhaps. But then again someone who lags everyone and is teleporting everywhere thanks to a shoddy connection is disrupting MULTIPLE other players on the server. Should the one think he is entitled to his presence for his own enjoyment...at the detriment of EVERYONE ELSE?

That's the point you and Gensher are missing. You have the right to play the game...you don't have the right to bring the game down for everyone else when YOU KNOW your connection is ♥♥♥♥.

Sucks that you have a crap connection but the fact of the matter is if your connection is indeed unable to handle online games reliably perhaps a focus on non-online software is in order. Or LAN oriented games.

As I say you have the right to enjoy your game, your enjoyment however does not include coming at the cost of multiple other players. Sure it sucks that the LPQ doesn't descriminate between shoddy connection and griefers but then in this kind of system its expected that you GROW UP and realize for yourself that if you can't reliably stay connected maybe its not a game you should play!
Fluffle Puff Apr 2, 2013 @ 1:55pm
Your missing half of my point though, almost every one of my comments have said something along the lines of "It doesn't happen all the time". My connection will drop for no reason, I've called my provider about, nothing has been changed and they say nothing is wrong anyway (even though I doubt it), I've checked everything about my connection, nothing is wrong, but for some reason, I never know when, the conenction will start to slow down, what I'm trying to say is that I shouldn't be punished for something that shows up at a random time and is unpreventable.
Xiane [dBs] Apr 2, 2013 @ 2:10pm
No I do understand. My own old provider suffered from the same thing there's a problem with a router outside your providers network, since its not on theirs its classified as 'not their problem'. But the point I make still stands, if you know that your provider is not reliably handling network issues its up to you to make a judgement call on wether you should be playing team oriented online games.

It's not valves responsibility to make exceptions to their anti-griefing systems cause your provider is crap. That's your problem. Sucks that it flags you as a griefer but if your provider is causing you to trip the system THAT much maybe its time to reconsider either not playing the game or which provider you maintain service with.

How dare you tell some opne to grow up because they have a poor connection, you need to grow up !.

I hae played over 200 lol games and only 3 games in which I have been unable to resolve my lag issue, its not all the time it is unperdictable.
I have had games in which after 40 mins of perfect game play it just starts , and everyone gets it including you at some point!.

If I was flashing all over the place I would not play it myself as there would be no point.

The fact is 90% of users lag, age has nothing to do with connections and it is players like you who destory the game shouting names and insults at over players who only play for fun.
get over your self your not mighty because you have a great connection!.
