"steam client missing or out of date"

i just downloaded the recent update and when i opened up my game it gave me this message.

How do i fix this? i validated my game cache and the message still appears as i open dota 2.

got this too, to fix it go to your steam folder open appcache delete all files in there

Actually I tried verifying but its failed, so after 30 mins trying I tried restarting steam and its freaking worked.

I mean just restart your steam (log out, log in)

So i had that same problem but i fixed it.I moved to another drive( for drive c to d) if you dont have another drive you can create another folder on your main one.After that move steam and steam apps to that new folder only that!!!Then start steam it will automaticly download uptdate.When its finished you will need to install dota 2 again!!!!AND THEN JUST GO IN DOTA 2 AND PLAY THE game!Hope i helped you!

If it doesn't work I always do these things (if 1 didn't work I did 2, then 3):
1. Restart Dota
2. Restart Steam
3. Restart you PC.
Always worked for me. =)
