Valve loves to control the market. I already got someone to pump 300 bucks into the Steam wallet system to give to me for a digital item that came with a figure I bought. They make a killing off of the THOUSANDS of people who buy these items, a KILLING from the market transactions that get made (almost made 500 bucks so far, and I wasn't even trying), and then they'll make a KILLING when they release select physical goods on their store later.
And all of it drives interest for going to the next TI. It's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brilliant, because Valve knows there's more than oversaturation of the market to make money.
