Likewise, I haven't played in ages. Just picked the game up again and would love to try out last stand.

for anyone who hasnt played in a while and is experiancing long match finding queues, try setting your map to the bloodied colesseum more people play that over the anvil of khorne due to achievements

Or instead of playing on that tired, old map you could all start queueing into the better map, Anvil of Khorne. ;)

The problem with the original map is that setups are limited due to clones. For example, my HT's ravener will consistantly one-volley most squishy and semi-squishy setups. So either I have to change my HT loadout, or my team has to be aware and take precautions.
Anvil offers more freedom to play around, which is fun.

That's what the game is about for me now, interesting synergies. Not much fun left in just playing round after round with random people that make no attempt to build a solid team.

How about an oldschool setup like support farseer with group tele, ward and energy regen aura with a galaxy burn sorc and a plasma cannon/orbital SM? Or as a twist, swap the SM for a rocket run sniper. Maybe a more fancy modern approach with a miasma/minion invul hive with two tau as ranged support?

Just things that make sense together somehow.. Instead of a thunder hammer SM, a teleboom mekboy and a group tele farseer, or whatever other silly business you see in random games.

Never take ward over fortune. fortune protects almost 100% dammage and is on a fast timer for low cost you can keep your whole team with pets fortuned 100% of the time with energy regen aura. IMO fortune is the best defense in the game when used properly. Harlequin stave, the armor with +100hp, confuse, group teleport and fortune then get the mana aura asap and youre the best support available.

I usually run support eldar with two squishy high damage characters. Ward is a lot better at keeping those guys alive, even allow them to take impossible risks to land a good hit. Besides, I wear Malan'Tai mantle instead of thinking I am a tank with Armor of Idranel, so energy cost of ward not that big of a problem for me. I also don't always run confuse, but that depends on team setup.

And that's the thing. You can't have a 100% fixed idea of the best setup for each hero, because in some teams you should make adjustments.
