Game Crash Problem

Recently purchased the game from the THQ Humble Bundle. This is my first attempt at starting up the game. When I attempt to play, if I select DX10/11, it will start the game and get to the third opening screen of the game and crash. If I select DX9, the game will not start at all and crash immediately. This appears to be a common problem. Any successful fixes or word from Steam?

I've tried "Verify Integrity of Game Cache..." at least 5 times now, and every time I've done it it has found and redownloaded 1 file. I don't know what the file is, but there appears to be a consistently bad file.

^ yes same thing for me. I have done everything. Except try to troubleshoot the game. It wont let me. All my other friends game works just fine. Is there an update im missing here?

I had the same problem, the game worked fine then after the steam update the game starts then bombes without a message.
I tried installing the latest Nvidia beta drivers....didnt fix it.
Then I re-installed Directx....didnt fix it.
Then I tried defragment cache files and ran the verify of game cache from within steam properties of the game. This reported the same problem with 1 file , ran it again and got the same message....when I ran the game in DX11 it worked :-)))))))

Not sure if it was just the last step or a combination but it got me up and running again!

I don't have an Nvidia card, so I don't think that will help.
